What is a Linear Narrative?

A linear narrative is the structure
of a film that has a beginning a
middle and a end.

What is a Non-Linear Narrative?
A Non-Linear Narrative is when the events in the film are re-arranged and there
isnt much sense in the story line. For example in pulp fiction it starts with the
ending scene.

What is a flash back?
A flash back is used to show a piece of the past inside a characters memory.
For example in Forrest Gump:
When Forrest is sitting on the bench he is talking about his first pair of shoes, her
scrunches up his nose and the screen dissolves to him doing that same face but he
was many years younger. It the reveal the scene of him with his first pair of shoes.

Realism is a story that is

characters personalities.

What is anti-realism?

Anti realism Is an abstract form of film, it

usually involves distorted characters or themes.
It will involve very Anti-Real-istic story line/plot.

What is an opening ending?

A open ending is very self explanatory, it just means that the ending is
open; as in the ending is unknown. This is usually done as part of a
series, the end of one movie will be the start of another maybe a year
later.
For Example in The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug in the last scene is
shows the titular dragon leaving the lonely mountain with a plan to
destroy and disrupt the town the camera then cuts back to Bilbo saying
what have we gotten our selves in to then the scene cuts to black
leaving the audience on a cliff hanger.

What is a Closed Ending?

A closed ending is also very self explanatory

as it just means an ending that is finished,
there is no waiting for more to see what
happens it leaves the viewer content that
the film has finished.
