1. For someone working in your field, please describe the fantasies versus realities of the job.
(fantasy vs. reality)
Everyone gets better and nothing ever hurts when working during therapy. Patients dont always get
better because some dont chose to continue or you just cant do anything else to help. And depending on
diagnosis therapy hurts when barely picking up ones arm.
2. What is your current educational level? What continuing education and training are required?
(educational level and requirements)
I have my masters in Physical therapist and pediatric certification. 2 hours required of ethics and 30 hours
on my choosing in an subject for 2 years.
3. Please describe the typical day to day activities of someone working in your field.
(day-to-day activities)
Check schedule with patients. I roughly have 3-8 patients, a day with sessions about 30-45 mins. I
complete documentation after every patient.
4. How secure are you in your current position? What do you think is the future of your field?
(job security)
There will always be a need for someone in the medical field so I feel very secure about my position
however policy and regulations change based on politics so be ready to adapt.
5. What is a typical (average or lowest to highest) salary of someone working in your field?
(salary)
I get paid roughly 79,000.
6. What potential for growth is there in your field?
(growth potential)
As technology grows the medical field grows which means new advancements for equipment. Which can
help with ways we carry on sessions. With growing technology there is also further education which also
continues to grow.
7. Why made you choose your career?

Revised Fall 2013

I chose this career because I went through therapy when I was also younger and it helped me so I wanted
to also be able to help people be back to where they were.
8. Why did you decide home-health?
I chose home-health because it is a little more relaxed and flexible with my time so I can also be there for
my children when need be.
9. What are average hours you work a week?
I work roughly 45 hours per week as I have a children of my own.
10. Why did you choose pediatric care?

I chose pediatric because my sisters baby had to go through pediatric therapy and I saw how fast
she was able to learn how to do everything versus an older patient. I love to see that what I do really
truly helps the children improve.
