DAILY JOURNAL
One-two paragraph reflection on the day. What went well, what did you learn today, what could you have done
better, What do you want to make sure you do not forget.

Monday
Started volleyball sport education games for the regular season. Talked to students about
rotating when in a game, and that everyone serves. We gave 7 th and 8th grade a regular size
volleyballs that were light weight, and for 6 th grade we went with an oversized light weight
ball.
We covered what the off duty teams responsibilities: line judging, scorekeeping, and
refereeing. Made sure that teams were keeping their folders up to date. Taking attendance
every day, and filling out practice logs.
Tuesday
Continued with regular season games and making sure that all the teams got to play each
other at least once. Reminded teams about rotating and making sure that everyone got to
serve. We went over that teams play with whatever players they have and if they had people
not show up to school on their team then they had to play with less than 6 player.
Reminded the off duty teams of their responsibilities. Made sure that teams were keeping
their folders up to date. Taking attendance every day, and filling out practice logs.
Wednesday
Early release. Students were only able to play one game today, because it was a shorter
class. Reminded the off duty teams of their responsibilities. Made sure that teams were
keeping their folders up to date. Taking attendance every day, and filling out practice logs.
Thursday
Volleyball sport education lesson continued. Started playoff rounds today, while students
were on an off team we did their sit and reach test. At the end of class we gave out a
volleyball quiz on passing, hitting, setting, and serving.

Friday
Volleyball last round of playoffs and championship games. Students were excited and were
very competitive. They really seemed to be enjoying themselves. Went over how to do
grades in the grade book, and I input the students sport education volleyball scores for the
packet and quizzes.

End of the Week Reflection

Write this over the weekend. One or two paragraphs per question. This will help you prepare for the new week.

1. Did you achieve your personal teaching improvement objectives for the week?
How do you know? Review what you wrote last week. Question 4
Keep working on sport education
Continued working on sport education. Got to the games portion of the of sport
education. Made sure that students were continuing to fill out their packets.
Try to get students more enthusiastic about sport Ed.
Students seemed to be more enthusiastic once games started. They wanted
their team to win and were very competitive.

2. What challenges did you face this week? How did you deal with them and what
did you learn from them?
I had a girl in first hour who was playing volleyball fall and she broke her two
front teeth. It was challenging, because she was scared and upset. She also,
showed signs of having a concussion. Followed school protocol for
concussion checklist and then she was wheel chaired out to the office.

3. What will your points of emphasis be for your students next week?
Next week we will be switching quarters and getting new students. We will be
going over class rules, locker assignments, and floor spaces. I believe we will
either be starting out with volleyball, badminton, or ultimate Frisbee.
4. What are your personal teaching improvement objectives for next week? No
more than three
Some personal objectives that I have for next week are to:
1. Learn more students names as all the students will be brand new.
2. Read up about badminton and ultimate Frisbee rules.
