Birth Control in Minors
Can teenagers that are underage get access to birth controls without a parents consent?
Teens are having a problem in our community with birth control access and pregnancy.
Teens are able to get access to help if they are willing to deal with the circumstances. There are
laws to abide by in the state of South Carolina. Teenagers can get access to birth control in the
state of South Carolina by being the age of sixteen, mature, or married.
How do I get it? It is difficult for teens to talk to their parents about sex. (How Can I Get
the Pill Without Telling My Parents). They are especially receptive of you show them that you
show them that you are. Parent are willing to consider new ideas about birth control (How Can I
Get the Pill Without Telling My Parents). To find options go to a gynecologist, or a doctor. For
options that are good for your health and for your body personally. You should not be afraid to
talk to your doctor about birth control. They cant say anything to anyone about your health
because of doctor confidentiality.
A minor can get a prescription for birth control without a parents permission, but there
are a few laws to follow by. A minor can get a prescription for birth control without a parents
permission, under one or more of the following situations, is sixteen years old and older,
demonstrates maturity, and is married (Sex in the States). If you are sixteen years of age, you

are able to go to an OBG/YN or a clinic without your parents with you. They will not ask for
parents signature, number, etc. if you are the age of sixteen. Maturity is easy to prove. You have
to prove to a judge that you are mature enough to make your own decisions, which is the same as
emancipation.
If you go to a clinic, your appointment will be completely private. This includes your
billing and your personal records (Sex in the States). Clinics provide reproductive health care
to anyone, male or female, teens and adults. Clinics have different types of services also. They
provide pregnancy options, testing for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases and
prescriptions for birth control ("How to Get Birth Control Privately When You're a Teen & Keep
Condoms from Breaking). Clinic do charge on a sliding-scale fee basis, but you can pay in cash.
If you do use your family insurance to pay for your visit, there is a possibility that your parents
can see the bill when it comes in the mail. ("How to Get Birth Control Privately When You're a
Teen & Keep Condoms from Breaking).
There are always laws to abide by to get birth control in South Carolina without a
parents consent. You do have to be sixteen years old, prove that you are mature, or are married.
You do have to deal with the consequences. Teens are having a problem in our community with
birth control access, which leads to teen pregnancy. Birth control is available to anyone, as long
as you are of age, mature to those of the state, or married.
