50-100 Years Down The Road

It is fair to say that our grandchildren will have a completely different way of life
than we have today. Look at your grandfather for example. What did he do for fun when
he was a kid? What was a typical day in the life for him? If like most, his life was pretty
simple. Grew up on in a small town learning the basic needs of life and how to take care
of a family. Playing baseball on the weekends and hooky on the weekdays. Comparing
then to now we still have the same basic need to provide for our family but the way we
go about to achieve that need is much different.
The information we are blasted with on a daily basis today is equivalent to 174
newspapers. (2.) Looking back only 24 years the average person was only exposed to
2.5 Newspapers of information a day. (2.) The difference is now we are in the
information age with approximately 295 exabytes of data floating around the world
that's 29,500,000,000,000,000,000,000 pieces of information! (2.) Its safe to say we are
headed in an information overload world that are children are going to adapt and grow
up in. What is it going to mean for our future cities and homes or how we go about or

daily lives? While its hard to say there are some really cool ideas being pushed to
support a technologically advanced world.

interesting website, imagine taking a trip to the year

3000. Or maybe thats too far to imagine. What about the year 2092?(8.) What would
you experience? What would a typical day include? What might you see on the news?
Well I had the opportunity to do just that. I went to the year 2092 and Ill tell you what I
saw. As I appeared on the street I saw a news display banner and the headline read,
Antartica: Largest Growing Place in the World. (8.) I was stunned! Antartica? I
thought, Theres no way people live thereis there? I asked a fellow going by and he
assured me Antartica was one of the most desired places to live with amazing
resources. A very pleasant man by the way. As I keep traveling I came across many
wonderful people that spoke very similar. Something I noticed was the language barrier
was minimal. These seemed to be all different kinds of people where I was but language
was not a problem. Most people in the future will be
able to communicate with anyone else across the
globe.
A traveler to the future, a century from now, is
likely to notice two things about the language landscape of Earth. One, there will

50-100 Years Down The Road

be vastly fewer languages. Two, languages will often be less complicated than
they are todayespecially in how they are spoken as opposed to how they are
written. (16.)
Truly the world had become a place where everyone is your neighbor, even if they are
across the world.
Although the population has increased substantially the way it has been handled
is marvelous. Very creative ways to use space wisely in the land all around. I was in the
middle of a smart city. (5.) Walkaways between buildings were formed in such a way that
the heavy population of traffic flowed quite smoothly. With above ground, on the ground
and under ground transportation paths, you can travel anywhere needed in minutes. A
lot of people actually lived under ground I saw and would go above ground for work and
shopping. An interesting idea to have a whole city per say underneath the city was very
interesting to me. Most people in the city didn't have cars. Public transportation was the
most efficient way around and those with their own vehicles used them for recreation.
Single person pods were used in a way like taxis to traffic people to certain destinations.
(12.)
I noticed as I walked around everyone was rushing to these tube-like trains for
travel. They are vacuum systems that can travel up to 3,000 mph. (13.) I met a man who
was coming back from China where he had been earlier that day for business. He told

50-100 Years Down The Road

me it isn't an unusual thing for people to do in a day since its only a two hour trip across
the pacific. It was an interesting experience to be in but one I enjoyed very much. I
thought to myself, This is very exciting. This is how life should be. Although there were
still many difficulties in the world and problems to be solved the discoveries and
inventions that had been made in such a short
time were incredible. At this point I decided
to return home to tell of my findings.
With the advance in technologies over
the next 50-100 years there is going to be many new ways of harnessing energy. Not
only will we be more efficient at receiving, holding and using energy but the devices
created that need energy to operate will be much more efficient at storing it. You see in
our day we live in a world on leash. We cant go anywhere for more than 24 hours
unless we know we can grab that leash we we know as an outlet charger to amp up our
many devices that run our life. Our grandkids in 50 years are going to laugh at the fact
we would sit around waiting for our devices to charge or our apps to download. The
concept of waiting will not be in their vocabulary. Popular technological products will be
made to run indefinitely. With themselves being the source of power and all intelligence
our grandchildren will marvel at our stories of crashes, lags, breaches, fails and of
course the famous saying, My phone died. This is because we are on a leash,

connected to the walls of our lives and in the future

freedom will be the center of our priorities.

I noticed how energy is perceived is much different. Wind and solar seem to be
the future of energy right? Even water propulsion could be a possibility? Wrong. The
future is fusion energy. (3-4) New discovers are going to occur to shed light on the
polluted and sometimes dark ways to get energy now. The sun is the source of all light
and power and when we learn to harness that energy effectively our lives will be
accelerated. I discovered a very interesting way energy was received in the future.
There are devices set out in space that collect energy that would otherwise pass by our
planet and we wouldn't be able to receive it on earth.(3)The energy is then distributed to
earth for our use. With ultimate power and energy machines and robots can perform
amazing tasks assigned for them to do. What I mean is our grandchildren will be able to
accomplish so much more or so much less depending how you look at it.
With the increase in population by this time transportation is going to be hell.
Lets face it, we are already bad enough drivers as is it but to add in traffic and road
rage all hell is going break loose. But there is going to be a much different experience in
the future with driving, a much more pleasant and fun experience. To drive in the future
is to say, Hey honey what do you want to do this weekend? How about we go for a
drive like we used to when we were kids? Most people will not own a operator needed

50-100 Years Down The Road

car and the vehicles they do own will be self driving. The roads will be laid out in smart
sections. Each car will know where each other is at and crashes, stop lights, stop signs,
etc. will be no more. Precisely coordinating with the other car and changing pace very
minimally the cars can pass each other at intersections safely. (6-7.)
Public transportation is going to play a major role in future cities. With the
underground subways or above ground super trains convenience, time efficiency and
cost are going to be main factors why people use public transportation systems. Private
vehicles will rarely be used for practical transportation. Personal vehicles will be used
mostly for recreation. (7.) Although they will be everything we can dream of regulations
will shy away many from going through the school and requirements to get a
driving/flying license.
Cities of the future will be perceived much differently. The traffic, crime and
pollution we now associate with what cities are will be what cities were. With
technological innovations to promote clean air and reduce pollution our future cities will
be very pleasant and stunning to be in. While vehicle traffic will almost be done away
with the increasing number of people visiting the city or people traffic will need to be
taken into account. New developments and way to traffic people will be researched and
human studies will show how to most efficiently and effectively move or hold people.
Things like moving ways and hyperloops will be tools to do such. (17.) Usually used

50-100 Years Down The Road

for more short distance mobility or from one city to the next. (17.) Going downtown for
shopping, events, or walking around will still be a popular activities but the experience
will be much different. The big cities that are popular today will be referred to as, The
old Vegas or The old Disney Amusement park. Bigger and better cities will emerge
kicking off the future our our world. High tech roads, buildings and ideas will all be
thought of to build these future cities. All starting from scratch with the latest and
greatest materials to work with. It will be a fun family vacation to go visit the cities we
used to live in as we wonder, how did we ever survive?
Soon a home will be more than just a home, it will be apart of the family. The
places we live are going to be part of our everyday life. Interacting, adjusting and
preparing things will be some of the tasks our homes will be involved in.(9.) Imagine
walking into a room and it adjusts to your preferences. (10.)Lighting changes,
temperature raises and maybe some music starts playing as you sit down to study. (10.)
Our homes are going to know us personally. Dinners will be prepared, schedules will be
ran through and chores will be finished upon return. Smart homes will come with smart
technology to complete tasks, communicate with users and monitor unknown activity for
security purposes. (10.) It seems the fad of the future will be changeable homes. You
will be able to move walls around to suite your needs for different nights. Open the

50-100 Years Down The Road

dining area one night to hold more people or make a few more rooms at night to
accommodate family or friends staying over.

What about underground living? With

continual building of new homes or places to

go to or work and the push of living in a green
world underground living will be a great option.

Imagine a whole city underground where you rarely have the need to go above ground
unless you want to. (11.) Transportation, shopping, living and recreational facilities will
all be accessible underground. Preserving the beauty of nature the world will grow
without the fear of ruining our planet. Some other fantastic options you will have while
searching for your new pad will be great waterfront property. So great you will actually
be living on or below the water. (18.) Lily pad like discs will float upon the water which
will be tied to a communities of houses. Just drive your boat right up and you're good to
go. Floating water cities will be a normal thing for amusement parks, work or regular
day to day living. (18.) With water making up over seventy percent of the earths surface
this will be a typical option for living.
Our handheld and at home devices will be everything we ever wanted. Effective,
efficient, fast and personably. With no plug in technology we wont be connected to

50-100 Years Down The Road

leashes or walls anymore. Televisions technically wont be televisions anymore. They
will be compared to something more like projectors. Being able to be out of sight and
then it will pop up, like a hologram. Being able to communicate back and forth we can
tell our technologies exactly what we want to do and will familiarize itself will our routine
schedule. Wake up this time, weather for the day, news, brush your teeth and bedtime.
For some it might be too much involvement for our lives but to others, especially those
with kids it will be something very helpful. Handheld devices as they are starting to
become will be a part of life itself and not a luxury to have. The world will be changed.
In the future space travel will be a regularly ran shuttle service well not quite,
but close. Our destiny is in space and Im convinced that humans will be looking into
establishing moon settlements as a necessity during our lifetime. But I dont think well
have established any viable colonies in our lifetime. (14.) With homes, buildings and
head quarters pushing their way on space living we wont quite be where the movies put
us. New searching and excitement for discoveries will only be the beginning of our
space living. As mentioned earlier future worldwide energy will come from space. (15.)
Soaring above the earths atmosphere will be an experience most will get to have. With
the earthlings on the ground and space travelers flying above, these completely different
worlds will be merged into one lifestyle. It will all be made possible by private space

travel companies. Although it seems to be an expensive hobby with the advancements
in technology traveling to the moon can be as simple

as planning a

long road trip.

Although the future may seem far
its right at our door. We need to be ready

off
to

adapt and accept the way the world is

heading. Technology is literally going to

be

out of this world with where we are

heading. This world is not going to be the only place we are working and discovering.
We have the stars in our reach and we are shooting for them and beyond. Who knows
what life will be like in 1000 years but thats for us to decide. As long as we dont have a
huge downfall and regress, but then again thats why we should learn from history. The
future is what we will make it and I hope we make it some dang good living!
