Science
1. Physical
Science

Teachers
will
support
the
students
using the
PHET
simulation
s.

Students
will use
the
simulatio
ns on the
IPad to
observe
states of
matter.

2. Life
Science

The
teacher
will
support
the
students
using the
app called
A Life
Cycle.

Students
will use
the app
on the
IPad to
explore
how life
cycles of
different
animals
compare
to each
other.

Student will
explore the
PHET
simulations
on the IPad
and record
their
observation
s of
different
states of
matter in a
Google doc
that will be
shared with
the class.
Students
will use the
app to
observe the
time is
takes for
different
life cycles
to be
complete.

Students
will take the
observation
s that they
made from
the
simulations
and relate it
to everyday
experiences
they have
with
different
states of
matter.

Students
will use the
IPads to
have
access to
the PHET

Students
will use the
IPad and
the A Life

The
teacher
will
provide
these
students
with extra
support
with each
of the
different
programs/
applicatio
ns used.

The
students
will use
the same
programs
and
applicatio
ns as the
rest of the
class.

Students
will interact
with the
app to learn
about the
different
types of
rocks and
what it
takes for
each type
of rock to
be formed.

Students
will be
using the
IPad to
study the
rock cycle
and how
the Earth
can be
broken
down to
create
rocks.

Differentiation
The
students
will use a
recorder to
record the
lessons
given by
the
teacher.

Students
will be
divided
into three
groups.
Each
group will
do extra
research
on a type
of rock
that they
will then

share it
with the
class.
When the
class gets
divided

they will
be put

groups
where
their
ability
matches

their
group
members.

Gifted/
Talented

The
students
will use
the same
applicatio

programs
as the
rest of the
class,
they will
just be
asked to
elaborate
more on
their
observati

work.

The
students
will be
expected to
relate the
topics being
learned to
more
outside
everyday
activities.
They will
also be
expected to
have a
better

the two

These
students
will be put
into ability

that are at
a higher
learning
level so
that they
can be
given
more of a
challenge.

Other
Reflection:
This matrix opened my eyes to a better understanding of how mobile learning can be applied to all subject areas. This unit
showed gave me more ideas of how I can incorporate technology into all of my different content areas and still create an effective
lesson plan. I feel that mobile learning offers teachers a very large toolbox that they can use to help students create a better
understanding of each content area that they are teaching. As I created this matrix, I realized that there are several different
applications that students can use to learn about different topics. I had a hard time choosing just one application to incorporate in
the lesson. I think that today, students can learn more from these applications because they are so used to using applications in
their everyday lives. This matrix was a great tool for more to used to have in the future to help incorporate mobile learning into
my own classroom.
