1. BOILERS
CFBC
GRATE TYPE
BOILERS
The boiler is designed for a variety of fuels such as Indian Coal, Imported Coal, Bio fuels such as
Rice husk and Sawdust etc as main fuel for steam of high pressure and temperature. FD fan
supplies the required combustion/fluidization air for the boiler. Air is heated in the air heater and
is distributed to the fluidized grid through a compartmentalized air box. A part of combustion air
is tapped from air heater outlet and further pressurized by a PA fan for pneumatic under bed fuel
feeding
The distributor plate is fitted with well proven and time tested air nozzles to distribute the
fluidizing air from air box uniformly over the entire bed. Bed tubes are immersed in the bed to

CHENNAI
maintain the required bed temperature.
The fuel from the bunker is fed pneumatically into the bed through a set of pocket feeder and
drag chain feeder and mixing nozzles located below the bunker. The hot flue gas generated from
the combustion chamber passes through convection superheater, boiler bank tubes, economizer,
air heater and ESP. Furnace draft is maintained by FD and ID fans. Steam drum
, boiler bank, mud drum (if provided), in-bed evaporator tubes, Down Comers, Riser etc forms
part of evaporator system.
CFBC BOILER
The CETHAR CFB boiler operates on the circulating bed principle. At high fluidizing
velocities (4 to 6 m/s) part of the bed material becomes entrained and is carried through the
combustion chamber with the flue gases. The coarser entrained particles are separated in a
water-cooled ‘hot loop’ cyclone separator and returned via a loop seal back to the bed. Finest
fly ash is carried through the boiler convection sections and separated from the flue gases in a
dust collection system.
Fuel is fed into the fluidized bed via gravimetric or volumetric feeders either through the
front wall and / or rear wall. Combustion takes place in the bed at about 870 - 900°C at full
load. The bed material is formed from the fuel ash (and sand in some cases). Due to the large
heat capacity of the bed, combustion is stable and no supporting fuels are required, provided the

fuel heating value is sufficient to raise the combustion air and the fuel itself above its ignition
temperature. The intense turbulence ensures good mixing and combustion of the fuel. High
heat transfer is obtained through the circulating material, which is approximately proportional to
the load. That is, the boiler has good response over a wide range of loads with a relatively small
excess air levels.
Primary air is taken from the atmosphere by centrifugal fan. Air is being brought to the
air box through an air preheater after it gets preheated. In the air box it is blown through the
grid to fluidize the bed and provide combustion air. Primary air fan control is via fan IGV /
Multi louver damper / VFD control / hydraulic coupling according to the required airflow,
which is measured by the aerofoil in the discharge duct before the air heater. There is a
minimum flow of primary air required to fluidize the bed and prevent flow of the material
through the nozzles. So at low loads the primary airflow remains constant and does not vary
with load.
Secondary air is also taken from the atmosphere by centrifugal fan and preheated in the
air heater. Secondary air is brought in at specified levels from the grid. Secondary air achieves
the "staged" combustion and completes the combustion of the fuel without the formation of
excessive NOx.
The secondary airflow is measured with an aerofoil in the discharge duct before the air heater.
The secondary air fan is controlled with IGV / Multi louver damper / VFD control / hydraulic
coupling according to the pressure down stream of the fan.
High-pressure air is used for fluidizing the circulating bed material in the loop seal. There are
two high-pressure blowers; one is always on stand-by duty.
A tubular, multi-pass air heater system with air inside tube design is offered at the downstream
of the economizer. The air heater preheats the combustion air that goes into the furnace. There
are separate sections for the primary and secondary air to get heated up. The tubular system
offers an advantage of negligible air-gas leakage. The air inside tubes design also facilitates an
After the air heater, the finer fly ash is transported to the dust collection system (ESP or bag
filter) where the fly ash is separated. The gas is drawn through the boiler fly-ash separator by
means of a centrifugal type induced draft (ID) fan, after which the flue gas is discharged to the
atmosphere via the chimney (stack).
The boiler is with a balanced draft system and the ID fan is controlled according to the pressure
at the top the combustion. Flue gas temperatures and pressure drops are measured throughout
the system mainly to indicate the operating condition of the boiler. Similarly flue gas is
analyzed for O2 to indicate the efficiency of combustion process.
- O2 is kept ~3.5 % to ensure proper combustion and to fulfill the emission requirements
- SO2 and particulate are controlled according to the specified requirements.
The ID fan will be sized based on the performance fuel duty at 100% MCR
load and then test block margins will be applied to obtain a proper fan selection basis. Fan test
block duty is checked for the availability of sufficient margins to assure the operation of the
boiler when using a worst range fuel or fuel mixture as agreed in the contract.
GRATE TYPE
Stoker sections are constructed with high quality, heavy duty, and heat-resisting cast alloy
materials for long life. Adequate access to all areas and external grease fittings maintenance is
provided. Individual parts, such as grate sections, can be replaced without major overhaul and
without necessitating purchase of large, more expensive subassemblies.
Fine particles of fuel are rapidly burned in suspension while coarser, heavier particles are spread
evenly on the grates, forming a thin, fast-burning fuel bed. The fuel feed and air supply rates
conform to variations in load and are automatically regulated by the combustion control system.
To compensate for variations of the ash content in the fuel, the grate speed can be adjusted. The
ash is continuously discharged over the front end of the grate into the ash handling system.
The CVL "GRATE" Hydraulic Drive is a powerful and efficient self-contained unit in a single
CVL gas/oil fired Boiler is Bi-drum, natural circulation, bottom supported water tube
type designed suitable for forced draught operation .The components of this boiler consists of
steam drum, mud drum, gas tight combustion chamber, evaporator
(bank) tubes and economizer. Moisture separation in the steam drum is accomplished with
separating chamber. The mud drum is provided with an intermittent blow down connection to
remove any accumulated solids. Both the drums are connected by an array of evaporator
(bank) tubes arranged in-line. These tubes are attached to the drums by expansion. The last
row of evaporator tubes are membrane welded continuously. The saturated steam from steam
drum passes to convection super heater and to radiant super heater.
To provide the combustion air required for burning the fuel forced draft fan (FD) has been
installed. The FD fan to burner duct is made of Carbon steel plates of sufficient thickness. .
Exhaust gas from ABC (After Burning Chamber) of kiln enters the radiant chamber where it gets
cooled sufficiently before entering into screen tube section. The gas then passes through super
heater section, evaporator section and economies section and let into the ESP. ID fan draws the
exhaust gas and lets into atmosphere through the chimney.
Steam drum is of cylindrical fusion welded construction. It is provided with Turbo separators,
screen separators and baffle boxes for effective separation of water from steam water mixture.
The purpose of radiant chamber is to cool the dust laden gas below ash fusion temperature
Waste Heat Recovery Boiler is a vertical single drum boiler consisting of economiser,
evaporator, superheater, hot gas inlet duct, outlet gas duct etc. The HRSG unit is suitable for
outdoor installation and designed to generate steam from hot kiln gas.
Steam drum is liberally sized, and provided with Turbo separators, screen separators for
effective separation of water from steam water mixture.
Radiant chamber is provided to cool the dust laden gas below ash fusion temperature before it
enters the screen and super heater section. It is designed in such a way that the gas passes at
optimum velocity and travels vertically downwards and takes a 180 degree turn at the bottom.
This will greatly aid in removal of dust particles in the gas.

• cost of a design
• design optimization
• design information management
• Innovation and creativity.
Competitive design research starts with a better understanding of the true cost of a product, both
from the design and manufacturing point of view as well as the 'whole life' perspective. Research
focuses on improving the cost prediction even at the early stage of the design process. The cost
engineering study also improves cost awareness among engineers to improve the value of a
product. The knowledge about the true cost of a product helps to position the product better
against the market competition and can make the product more affordable. The Decision
Engineering Centre is collaborating with creative designers to make their products more
competitive.
Design optimization is a technique that uses Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
based tools to design the best solution for a given set of requirements. Use of design optimization
can make an existing product more competitive or design a very novel product. The research
uses state-of-the-art “Soft Computing”, GRID and computer aided analysis technologies for the
design. The study integrates numerical design evaluation techniques with qualitative evaluation
for better understanding of design performance.

strategy in Task List view and building marketing department workflow. By using this software,
Marketing Director can create a structure in Task Tree view for coordinating all marketing
processes toward the attainment of organizational goals
To introduce products and services into a market and create value in the mind of the
customers; the managers of the marketing department need clear and appropriate information.
The marketing research provides the facts and directions that the managers can use to make their
important decisions for marketing and competitive activities. To organize the workflow for
managing market research and monitoring customer needs, the marketing department can use
CONDUCTING MARKETING
The marketing researches enable organizations to obtain a higher level of precision in their
market analyses and to enhance customer approach. The marketing research process can be
represented as a project which can be planned and managed according to the project management
rules. In this context, the project Marketing Research can be divided into three main phases that
is Planning, Tracking and Reporting.
By using Cetharsoft’s, Marketing Director can create a new research in task group 'Marketing
Research' and specify tasks for the marketing researchers. Each task has such attributes as
'Due date', 'Priority', 'Comments', 'Attachment', 'Resources' and other .Cetharsoft’s allows
planning tasks of the marketing research by time attributes (due dates, estimated time, start
finish dates) as well as by priority (Low, Normal, and High).
The point is that research process should be tracked in order to make sure it is running
according to the established plan. Many different aspects of the marketing research should be
cautiously tracked and supervised by the managers of the marketing department. To begin
tracking the marketing research team and its results, the best place to start is by monitoring to-do
lists and comparing actual indicators with planned ones. For example, by using Cetharsoft’s,
Marketing Director can track time left to complete a task, compare estimated time with actual
time. To find out why one or another task is delayed, the managers can use Comments and ask
the marketing researchers what problems they face during the research process and what possible
solution they have. The feedback and communication with the team members will allow to find
non-standard and efficient solutions and resolve complicated problems.
The advertising and promotion function of the marketing department describes how the
unique selling proposition will be delivered to the prospective customers. The advertising and
promotion plan offers a range of advertising and promotional opportunities that will allow to
address the advertising message and the product concept to the target audiences throughout the
market. While there are many different promotion methods available to the department, what
distinguishes an effective advertising and promotion plan from an inefficient one is a focus that
the unique selling proposition provides. The advertising and promotion plan may consist of the
following parts:
Control over the implementation of the advertising and promotion plan is kept by the
marketing department, often in cooperation with PR department. The department tracks and
monitors the course of advertising campaigns and controls tasks performance of promotion
specialists, sales agents, marketing researchers, and advertising copywriters. As a coordinator of
advertising campaigns and promotion activities, the brand and product manager should be
informed about current campaign progress and outstanding issues the employees face in their
work. For example, it is necessary to check whether the campaign is running according to the
plan. In Cetharsoft’ss the coordinator can use Filter Bar to track the campaign status by columns
"Status". Tasks can be grouped and filtered by columns "Due date" and "Complete" so that the
coordinator could see uncompleted tasks. Besides, the coordinator can get notifications on task
changes.
The structure of the plan can be built in Task Tree view of Cetharsoft’s. In the task group
"Advertising and Promotion Plan" there can be created subgroups "Advertising", "Sales
Promotions", "Marketing Materials", "Publicity", and "Tradeshows". In each of the subgroups
the brand manager and product manager can add tasks and to-do lists and then assign them to the
staff of the marketing department.
At the end of promotion and advertising activities the marketing department creates reports on
the tasks and activities that have been done. If you plan sponsor a community event, or conduct
an email campaign, you'll want to include it in your advertising and promotion plan. The reports
include task progress and attempts to promote the product so that marketing director or the
coordinator can analyze achievements and failures of undertaken campaigns. The reports are also
a great opportunity to accumulate knowledge and experience. It will be applied to planning a
sequence of next promotion activities and advertising campaigns which will help to
communicate with potential customers.
