1. Start off the day by playing Fifty Nifty United States
http://ucfgr3regionsandstatesf15.weebly.com/internet-and-apps.html
2. After the song is completed review and assess students knowledge of the weeks past
lessons using the scale.
3. Introduce students to the topic for the day and remind them of their continued
routine/groups from the beginning of the week. ESE AND ESOL: GROUPS.
4. Assess students on the topic of resources using the scale at the beginning of the lesson.
5. Separate students into their 5 groups. ESE AND ESOL: PAIRING STUDENTS
WITHIN THE GROUP.
6. Explain the five different centers/groups for the day and what the students will be
doing in each group. (10 minutes at each station)
Station 1) Northeast resources
Station 2) Southeast resources
Station 3) Midwest resources
Station 4) Southwest resources
Station 5) West resources
7. At each station there will be a map of the United States with major resources listed.
Major resources include natural resources such as water, arable land, oil, phosphate,
and fish and also goods such as agricultural crops, animals, and man made goods.
8. During their time in the station I want the students to use their folder accordion (made
prior to the unit) and add notes to their states and regions about the recourses found in

them. These notes can include pictures, labels, or lists.

Bring students together after each center has been visited by each group and have
them quickly share something they learned with another student about any or all of the
five regions and their resources.
10. As a final review bring up the states game from the Internet and Apps page of the
Weebly on the interactive white board and have students help you with the game.
During which ask questions about the resources in the regions.
11. Finally have the students assess their knowledge using the scale.
