Joyas Valadoras Response

Initially, the author references facts, scientific for sure, but still beautiful. He uses these
specific snippets of knowledge to paint pictures of the hearts of different animals: a whales
room, a hummingbirds eraser tip. He then switches from literal to figurative, equating a
physiological heart to the symbolic heart. However, Ive heard that our physical and emotional
selves are reflections of each other. In her short film, Tropico, Elizabeth Grant (psychedelic
singer Lana Del Rey) mentions the lips, the hair, singing, these are not the body, but the soul.

This shows reflective thinking because I analyze the literary elements of Joyas Valadoras. I also
relate it to a film that Ive seen, showing that Im applying concepts in the essay to other art
forms.
