ISTE
Standard: 1A
Example:
Students will
create a new
way to
understand
what
PEMDAS is.
By creating a
Google Trek
they will be
able to
create a
different
acronyms
from national
monuments
adding in a
picture to
help
remember
that.

Remembering
Students will
use this new
acronym to
help them
remember
what order
PEMDAS goes
into. This will
allow them to
also
understand
how a primary
source can
help them
understand
other things
rather then
just what they
are.

Example: As
a teacher
you will
read a
primary
source from
a different
teacher out
there that
talks about
different but
fun ways to
teach
geometry
lessons. As
for teaching
this to
students,
perhaps we
would use
one of these
and talk
about how
it is
important
to use
everyones
ideas no
matter
where they
come from.
Reading, Writing, and Communicating

and Listening
2. Reading for All
ISTE

Students will
be able to see
how as
teachers
sometimes we
need help
teaching
things from a
different
method.
Through this
we will be able
to see if
students will
be able to
apply the
information in
a new way and
be able to
understand
the same type
of concept but
in a different
way.

Applying

Purposes

Standard: 2D
Example:
Students will
look at the
book Flat
Stanley and
will create a
Google Trek
of the
journey that
he goes on.
Each point
will be
represented
by a fun fact
of that
destination.
Students will
then put
theirs
together with
other team
members
and describe
how they
compare to
each other to
see how
many places
around the
world he
went.

3. Writing and
Composition
4. Research and
Reasoning

ISTE
Standard:
4A

Students will
be able to see
how putting
points on a
map will help
them to
understand
collectively
how a book
can travel all
around the
world. It will
help them to
understand
their
geography as
well because
he goes
everywhere.

Understanding
Students will

Example:
Students
will read a
book
written by
an author
about their
life. Most
likely a
historical
fiction story
about a
struggle
they went
through and
then talk
about that
person by
researching
more about
them and
how they
lived.
Social Studies
1. History

ISTE
Standard:
1C
Example:
Students
will create a
lesson using
Google Trek
that talks
about an
event in
history. This
will allow

use
understanding
for this one
because it will
help them
understand
the way that
people lived.
They will be
able to see
people outside
of just their
world and
actually read
about
someone who
went through
it!!

Understanding
Students
would use
understanding
because it
would be a
way to see if
what they
have learned
has allowed
them to
understand

students to
see the
geographica
l location of
where the
event took
place and
be able to
work as a
group on
thinking of
a way to
use this
technology
to create
this lesson.
2. Geography

the events and

history and a
way to do that
would to use
the Google
Trek.

ISTE
Standard: 2C
Example:
Students will
create a
Google Trek
about them.
They will pin
point places
they have
lived and
places where
they live that
they love.
They will
then connect
with an
international
student and
share what
they do

Creating
Students will
use creating
because we
will talk at the
very end of
this if they
were able to
create a new
point of view
on the world
having learned
about parts of
the world and
the people
who live there.

where they
live, giving
them a tour
of places.
Then
international
student will
create one
based on
their country.
Together they
will learn
about each
others
culture and
ways of life
while
learning
about
geography.

Applying
Students will
use the
concept of
applying to
use this as a
comparative
project. They
will be able to
see how the
areas have
changed over

start with
Darwin and
continue on
into time to
see how
different
environments
evolved
overtime.
They will
focus more
on the
images of the
area and see
how they
changed and
what they
look like
today.
3. Earth Systems
Science

ISTE
Standards:
2C
Example:
Students
will be able
to create a
Google Trek
of all the
different
rocks that
James
Hutton
founder of
geology
discovered.
They will

what the
evolutionists
found has
created issues
of what it
looks like
today.

Creating
Students will
design their
Google trek
based on how
they learn. It
will allow them
to incorporate
different
learning styles
and how they
allow us to
understand
the life that
James Hutton
created.

use

from places
and pick
points of
interest on
their map to
display
them. They
will be able
to use their
creative
juices to
create this
Google trek
anyway
they see fit.
As long as
they
incorporate
the rocks
and James
Hutton
images.

Students will

Reflection: Overall, I think this was a very tricky matrix to create. There were many times where I felt like what I was
saying was very repetitive and did not really better help me to understand what the assignment. The students will be
able to understand where you can find primary sources and how that makes sense for past things because of the life
people before us had. I think that this is a very tricky one to figure out because the topic was so big. I dont really want
to constantly do Google Trek lessons for things if it doesnt make sense for that type of situation. However, there are
not always primary sources out there for math or even sciences but I think that also, that is a learning process and it
will all work out the way it is supposed to!
