which will be held at Randolph-Macon College August 15 - 19, there will be three special events to
which you are cordially invited. Each speaker is a leading figure in the study of nonviolent
conflict resolution, and each has bridged theory and practice in significant ways. For example,
over the past twenty-five years, Herbert Kelman (author of International Behavior: A
Social-Psychological Analysis, which has been required reading for generations of political
scientists) has run conflict resolution workshops for Israeli and Palestinian leaders, and his work has
contributed significantly to the inclusion of Palestinians in the current peace talks. Anima Bose, a
distinguished historian and noted author on Gandhi and peace, has done outstanding work in
implementing the Gandhian tradition into practice in the communities of New Delhi. Morton
Deutsch, author of the classic Conflict Resolution, is the father of many of the efforts to employ
methods of nonviolent conflict resolution in schools nationwide. In addition, each of these events
provides an excellent opportunity to meet and talk informally with distinguished psychologists from
around the world.
