Dear Parent/Guardian:
It is a pleasure to welcome you and your student into our classroom learning community at Central High
School. I am a graduate from the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University with a
state certification in the English content area for secondary education. Additionally, I completed over 225
hours in diverse middle and high school classrooms, and completed a semester long student teaching
internship that has prepared me for my role as an educator. As such, I strive to work with my students to
create a safe classroom environment for learning.
Through my own educational journey I have learned the value of working hard, and being pushed to my
best potential. As such, I expect my students to meet me half way by demonstrating their dedication to their
education by showing up on time for class ready to learn, and adhering to the classroom procedures. In
order to enhance their classroom experience, students must pay attention, complete assigned work by their
due dates, work cooperatively with peers, and think critically to find solutions. Students will always be
given the tools they need to succeed, but it is ultimately up to them to gain and apply that knowledge. More
detailed information regarding course work, due dates, and rubrics will be provided in the syllabus.
The goal for the year is to have all of my students succeed by providing them will the necessary knowledge,
and tools they will need for the classroom and beyond. You are an intricate factor to your students success,
as such, it is my hope to work alongside you as a team. Assisting your student with work is always
encouraged, since it allows you to help them make connections to their lives. Additionally, helping your
student can show you what progress has been made, which is why it is also important to remember to guide
them without giving them the answer. Furthermore, aiding your student in understanding the importance of
deadlines will set them up for success.
If you have any further questions throughout the year feel free to use the email or phone number provided
above. Additionally, you may speak to me in person by requesting a meeting or visiting the classroom at
your convenience before school at 7:30 am, or after school at 2:30 pm. I look forward to working with you
and your student to make this year a triumph. Thank you very much for your collaboration.
Sincerely,

Margarita Velazquez

Dear Mr. Biera:
I hope I find you in extraordinary spirits. I am writing to express my extreme interest in the position of
junior English instruction that is currently available at Central High School. As a recent graduate from the
Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University with a state certification in the English
content area for secondary education, I am eager to begin my first year of teaching. I have a tremendous
passion for teaching and literature that is equally matched in experience. Be assured that my diverse middle
and high school internship experiences with over 225 hours, and semester long student teaching has been
more than sufficient in preparing me for my role as an educator.
Through my own educational journey I have learned the value of working hard, and being pushed to my
best potential. As such, I will be incorporating the educational philosophies of Dr. Harry Wong and Richard
Lavoie to create a rigorous, and safe classroom environment if accepted for the position. Additionally, I am
a very motivated and professional individual. Please feel free to review my attached resume, which
provides more details of my qualifications.
Central High School has an excellent thriving environment which is why I would like to arrange an interview
with you, so I can explain in more detail the contribution I can make to your school. I appreciate you taking the
time to review my credentials as well as for your consideration. I look forward to your reply.
Sincerely,

Margarita Velazquez

Dear Parents/Guardians of Leona Miller:
I hope I find you in good health and spirits. Leona is a pleasure to have in class because she is always
engaged, and active in class discussions. However, there have been some issues regarding Leonas
assignments. After checking the grade book it appears that Leona has disregarded the due dates for four
assignments by turning them in late or not at all. As such, I would greatly appreciate your cooperation in
working with me to resolve these issues.
The syllabus that was given to Leona outlines the specific due dates for each assignment. As such, I expect
all of my students to adhere to the deadlines as specified in their signed student plan for success agreement.
Ask Leona to help you review the student plan for success again, so she can fully understand what is
expected with your guidance. This is an issue that Leona shouldnt let escalate because it will have a grave
impact on her grade if it continues. As such, if Leona puts in the effort to complete the two missing
assignments I will accept the work, but not for full credit. Please have Leona examine the late and missing
assignment section of the plan for student success document for more information.
Additionally, I have provided a sheet which contains all of the due dates for the assignments that will need
to be completed throughout the rest of the year, and how many points each is worth. I hope the due date
sheet will prove to be helpful in keeping Leona on track. Leona is a pleasure to have in the classroom, and
her quality of work is excellent. As such, she should have no problem earning an excellent grade after this
issue is resolved.
If you have any further questions please feel free to contact me during school hours at (602) 764-7500. I am
also available through email, mvelazquez@phoenixunion.org, which will render a prompt response no later
than a day even during the weekends. Additionally, you are more than welcome to visit the classroom at
your convenience. Thank you for the collaboration in assisting the needs of Leona. She is a bright student,
and I look forward to her improvement.
Sincerely,

Margarita Velazquez
