Our understanding for this specific lesson is to implement the

use of paint over random objects to create a landscape. Many
artists use different kinds of tools objects, to create all kinds of
patterns in their art when they want to give their work a
different that is aesthetically pleasing, displeasing, textures
and many other expressions.

Interpret art

The students and teachers will have a brief discussion,

talking about how artists use different non-art tools to create
works of art that are extraordinary. The class will be shown
the teacher examples and asked what do you think made
these patterns in this artwork and why do you think the
artist chose that specific object to make that pattern. It is
important for students to think outside of the box when it
comes to at making. This lesson will help students realize
that they arent just limited to using one tool to create a
work of art. By using random items the students can create
landscapes consisting of textures and patterns to create an
expressive landscape.

Make art

The teachers will have the students surround a work table so

they can watch the teachers display the different kind of
patterns random object makes, so the students can get a
sense of what objects they might want to use for their
landscape. This is a discovery based lesson where students
will learn through experimentation. Students will be
exploring the different objects, to get a feel of what each
objects form and texture makes on the paper. Then they will
explore their random objects, they will then create their own
landscape, using their knowledge of what each random
object displays on paper to create a unique landscape. If any
students are struggling, teachers will be there as an extra
support to help the students with their random object
landscape paintings.
We will have the whole class have a discussion to expand
their ideas for their project. Some of the questions include:
What random objects will you use to create your landscape
and why? How do you feel about this art project and why do
you feel that way? Would you want to do something like this
again, if so, why

Contextualize art

Everyday Arts Lab

Students will be exploring a different type of painting and

have a brief discussion on landscapes. Students will choose
what kind of landscape to make from what their favorite
season is and asked questions concerning both painting and
landscapes. What is a landscape? Ask students to re-create
this place in their imaginations. What does it look like? What
is in the foreground? Middle ground? Background? From
what point of view are they seeing their landscape? They

will discuss the traditional paintings they have seen. What is
important of paintings? What do artist portray in the
paintings? What kind of mark makings are made when
using traditional painting objects? Why do artist use the
materials they use? New paintings will also be shown to
them.

Differentiation

This experience will be a great experience for all types of

learners because it will be a visual and completely hands on
lesson. Students will be focused on making their paintings
with their objects and making specific mark makings instead
of using the traditional objects.
Students will be continuously having a discussion which will
be helping out other students in their groups. Students who
will come late into class will be sitting towards the end of the
classroom; they will have one on one time with one of the
student teachers. Students who are also having trouble
focusing will also sit in the back where student teacher will
be helping them.

Reflection and/or
other forms of
assessment

Students will find unusual objects that might interest them.

They will create a painting in which they feel inspired by,
using the materials they choose. After they complete the
painting, they will reflect why they made the painting they
did. What made you choose (object) and what does it
represent in your painting? What kind of markings do you
think this object is going to make? Students will then have a
small discussion of what they are making with other
students as a way to stay motivated. Why are you making
the marks that you did? Were the marks based off of your
emotions? What kind of patterns did you see you made with
the marks you made?

Timeline

Students will play Simon says (5 minutes)

Teachers will introduce what painting is, and what type of
materials are used (10 minutes)
Students will make their landscape and at the same time will
have a discussion while making their piece with other
students (30 minutes)
Students will clean up and leave their paintings to dry (15
minutes)
