Exploring Genre
Why write in different genres? What type of (genre) of writing will you be doing:
-in school
-in your career
-other
Writing in multiple genres gives you an open mind on which genre you need for different
pieces of work. Depending on what your purpose is in the writing, different genres help get your
point across, whether it is persuasive, informative, a report, etc.
In school Ive wrote narratives, essays, speeches and schedules. My career path right
now is accounting and Ill use finance reports.

The genre I write in the most would have to be texting. I text my friends, parents, and
girlfriend throughout the day.

life that makes me feel whole.

better grammar and am more serious. When I text my friends I joke around while being more
laid back.
3.
example for texting would be to take a screenshot for evidence and send it to the person Im
trying to prove a point to that maybe doesnt believe me.

me. Sometimes Ill make a bubble map depending on what type of paper it is.

Short Paragraph:
My expectations in this class is to make writing easier to conduct. I need to work on my
grammar and sentence structures, but primarily I want to become more comfortable in writing
different genres for school and my future career. Along with writing, I expect to be able to read
and comprehend a piece of literature better, so writing a report comes more natural.
5.

expecting to learn some about Harry Potter now that I got put into Ravenclaw or whatever its
called.
How do they differ?
They honestly dont differ too much. I dont text in a lot of slang or write u
instead of you or wryd instead of What are you doing?. The text had an expectation that
isnt a key purpose of the class when I talked about Harry Potter. I dont pay attention to
punctuation as much in texting or trying to sound smart by putting bigger words.
