Lesson Objectives:
Improvisation/Acting

Materials:
Hand out of Lebaun techniques and graphic organizer (worksheet).
Introduction/Warm-ups: (In Circle Formation)
- General Warm-up used by Mr. Taylor
Activities:
Character exploration - Lebaun
- The teacher should explain this information in great detail before the students complete the
activity.
- The teacher is going to get the students to walk around the room, and then start inserting all of
the Lebaun techniques into their walks.
- Its important to note that all of the techniques come with different mindsets.
- Terminology:
- Press: slow, direct, heavy
- Punch: quick, direct, heavy
- Floater: slow, indirect, light
- Glide: slow, direct, light.
- Wringer: sustained, indirect, light.
- Slash: quick, indirect, heavy.
- Flick: quick, indirect, light.
- Dab: quick, direct, light.
- Once all the students have explored all of these options, the teacher should encourage the
students to explore the technique that best fits their character.
- Then the teacher should get the students to get into their partners and try out their scene.
(Questions: What is different with your character? What has stayed the same?) The students
should be encouraged to try their scene on their feet this time. (They have only been reading
their scene so far)
Closure:
- Before the students leave the classroom, the teacher should give the students a worksheet to
put in their duotang. This worksheet should also be completed before their performance.

Time

Student Evaluation:
The scripts will be gathered at the end of the unit for
assessment purposes. The script is expected to be
mounted by the end of this class, and it needs to be
broken down before the performance date. The broken
down script will be taken into consideration for the
summative assessment at the end of the unit. The
students will have from this class until the end of the
unit to complete the broken down script.

Misc/Business:
Prior to the lesson, the teacher should have all of the
handouts and worksheets ready for this lesson. The
teacher should be prepared to give visual examples for all
of the Lebaun techniques.
