Birth Second Grade Teacher

To teach birth through Second grade a person must be hold a bachelors degree or graduate
degree from an accredited collage or university. They must also complete program approved by
the board in preparation to teach these students. They must hold a license to teach these
students issued from the state of teaching or from another state. They can also teach if they
hold an Elementary license, a secondary education license, or a license to teach middle school,
or junior high school, all of these schooling licenses will be accepted if they are endorsed by a
major in child care.

Elementary Subjects K-8 Teacher

To have a license to teach Elementary education, grades Kindergarten through eighth


grade, and if the teacher has not previously been certified to teach in an other state they
must visit the Praxis website for further testing. They must also hold a Bachelors Degree
from an accredited college and have followed the provisions of NAC 391.095, they can add
endorsements to their elementary license but they are not required to do so while teaching
these grade levels.

Substitute Teacher

To qualify to be a substitute teacher in grades K-12 an individual must be a citizen of the


United States, or must have a valid Permanent Resident Card. They must also have had to
accumulated sixty hours of semester credits, or they must hold a associates degree or higher
from an accredited collage or university.

Special Education (Exceptional


Students) Teacher

To receive an endorsement to teach Exceptional Students a person must have a license


for the level of education in which this program is offered. They must have two years of
verified experience in schools with departments approved in this subject. They must also
have completed twelve hours of credit from an accredited collage or university.

Reading Specialist

To be endorsed to become reading teacher a person must hold a bachelors degree, have
a valid license in teaching elementary, middle school, junior high school, a secondary or a
special teaching license, these do not include business or industry. They must also have
accumulated sixteen credited hours of reading courses.

Art Specialist

To have an endorsement to teach art, an individual must, complete a certain amount of


test via the Praxis website if they do not already hold a license to teach art. They are also
required to hold a bachelors degree and have completed three credited semester hours in a
course that involves family engagement and parental involvement. They must also have
completed certain amounts of college credits including: twenty-two hours of semester credits
on professional education, thirty-six accredited hours of applied, and principles of fine art.

Library/ Media Specialist

To teach in the schools Library or anything involving media a teacher must enquire in an
endorsement and have a valid license to teach elementary, middle school or junior high
school, a secondary or special teaching license not including business and industry license.
They must also have completed a program to teach school library and media approved by a
board or regional accredited associating. They must hold a masters degree or a more
advanced degree in library science which is specialized in school librarianship, from a school
that is accredited by the American Library Association, or they must complete twenty-one
semester credits.

Physical Education Specialist

For a person to receive an endorsement to teach Physical education they must complete
testing on the Praxis website if they are not prior licensed in another state. These individuals
must also have a bachelors degree and have three credits in a course involving parental
involvement and family engagement, and forty-two credits in physical education
requirements, along with twenty-two credits on professional education. If a teacher is
teaching elementary or second grade level they can only be endorsed to teach K-8 Physical
Education, and not K-12 Physical Education.

Music Specialist

To receive an endorsement to teach music a teacher must test on Praxis, if they do not
already hold a valid license to teach music in an other state. These individuals must have a
bachelors degree and have completed three credits of parental involvement and family
engagement courses. They also must have completed a board approved program for teaching
music. They must also have completed twenty-two credited classes pertaining professional
education, and thirty-six semester credits of foundations of music.

Educational Computer Strategist (Computer


Applications)
To teach children involving computer-based applications an individual must have an
endorsement to do so. They are also required to hold an elementary, middle school/ junior
high school license. They must also have completed a program approved by the Board
specialized in computer-based applications, or twelve semester credits.

School Counselor

For an individual to be endorsed to become a School Counselor they must have a valid
license to do so in another state, if they do not have such licenses then they must complete
tests on the Praxis website. They must complete three semester credits regarding parent
involvement and family engagement. They are required to have a masters degree or a more
advanced degree in school counseling, a major in counseling, along with two years of
teaching experience or two years of counseling experience.

School Psychologist

To be endorsed to be a School Psychologist an individual must have completed three


semester credits on parental involvement and family engagement. They also are required to
be certified as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist issued by the National School
Psychology Certification System of the National Association of School Psychologist, if they are
not certified in this manner they can also become a School Psychologist by holding a
graduate degree with preparation in school psychology along with earning sixty semester
graduate credits from required areas. They are also required to have completed a practicum
and a minimum of a one-thousand hour internship in school psychology.

School Administrator

To be eligible to receive an endorsement to be a in the school administration a person


must have a valid license to teach elementary, middle school, junior high school, secondary
or special teaching, along with being required to have a masters degree, and completed
three years of teaching in an accredited school grades K-12. They are also required to have
completed twenty-four hours of graduate courses in the administration of a school. They must
also have completed an additional twelve hours of graduate courses either in educational
administration, or have acquired a masters degree or higher in educational administration
from a university or a regionally accredited college.
