Philosophy of Education

As an Elementary educator, it is my purpose to be a dispenser of knowledge and a

facilitator of new ideas in order to successfully and continuously develop my students. It is my
duty to prepare and build students for leadership roles, social independence, and continuous
educational growth.
In order to build cognitive growth, it is my responsibility to use individualized
instructions that are responsive to each students communication style. By implementing
differentiated learning, every student has the opportunity to grow and develop in a positive and
challenging way. I will execute a student centered classroom and curriculum plan and promote
students to continuously ask questions. This will be implemented in class led discussions where
students have the opportunity to collaborate with other classmates and pose new questions about
topics theyve learned.
The use of technology as a classroom tool provides an immense supply of resources and
strategies for learning. I believe that it is a necessity to incorporate technology into the
curriculum of elementary students. The use of computer games, online resources, and DVDs
will help students adopt new strategies for acquiring knowledge and skills. However, with
technology comes technical difficulty. Therefore, I will need to be prepared to modify my lesson
plans by providing a secondary procedure for learning the content.
By incorporating a variety of direct and indirect instruction, collaborating with fellow
colleagues, and implementing cooperative learning strategies, I will reach and impact each
diverse student on a level that is receptive to them. My goal is to encourage my students to be
actively engaged in lessons and promote student participation within classroom discussions. To
keep students engaged, I will provide a stimulating, interactive atmosphere and inspire an
environment safe for risk taking.
For the sake of allowing each student the fair opportunity to be assessed, I will utilize all
strategies of assessment including formative, summative, and integrated assessments. I will
encourage my students to learn the content in a way that best suits their learning style whether
that be in an auditory, visual, or kinesthetic method.
As an educator of our youth, I will strive to implement and execute a student centered,
collaborative classroom with encouragement of open discussion and student questioning of ideas.
The use of different resources and strategies will allow me to observe and assess my students on
a variety of levels. This promotes the fair assessment of each diverse student and reaffirms the
differentiated learning methods and cooperative learning strategies being implemented in the

classroom. I am responsible for preparing my students for real-world roles as well as

encouraging continuous educational and personal growth and development.
