Cups Counters (any object that can be easily placed inside the cup)
Summary of the game:
Pair the students up (in twos) and give each student a two dice, cup and handful of counters. Students are going to roll their dice and add up the two numbers that they have rolled and place that number of counters in their cup. They will take turns doing this until one of them has filled up their cup first, being the winner of the game. Walk around and see that the students are adding correctly and working together. Who? Kindergarten Groups of 2 Connection: TEKS: K.2. (A)count forward and backward to at least 20 with and without objects; I really enjoyed this idea to share one day with my future students. Students get tired of worksheets and flashcards and this is a fun and different way to practice addition. Many students enjoy games and being competitive so this can help them learn and motivate them. This game can also be very diverse and changed. The age group I picked was kindergarten but it can be modified for almost any age group. For example for first grade you can add a dice with bigger numbers and have the children add those numbers.
