Apple Ridge Apartments

Dear HUD Representatives:

I am unable to attend the meeting today but want you to know some of the City's concems
regarding the management of the Apple Ridge Apartments.

l)

On September 29,2015, a resident was found dead in his apartment. Authorities

determined he had been dead approximately two weeks before being discovered. The
smell alone should have alerted management that there was something wrong in that
particular unit.
2) Management is unaware of how to do a background check through New Mexico
Courts (www.nmcourts.com). For example, had management checked New Mexico
Courts for records of a resident who recently agreed to move to avoid eviction, they
would never have allowed her to lease an apartment.
3) Management allows visitors to stay without making them aware of the two-week
visitor restriction. There has recently been an instance where numerous family
members were allowed to stay longer than the two weeks allowed. Reports from
residents indicate there were eight to ten individuals living in a one bedroom
apartment.

Other City departments have concerns as well.
