I. CONTEXTUAL FACTORS
MDD Standard
1. Community in which the school is located and/or serves, municipality or
owner and school factors
They are located at Universidad Catlica de la Santsima Concepcin.
They are first year students.
This University has christian values.
There are a variety of socioeconomic status.

1.1. How These Factors May Impact My Lessons:

First of all, we have to know in which level the students are, We always have to be careful
with all the vocabulary that we use at the moment of speaking, it is necessary to be
respectful with thoughts and students beliefs. We should provide examples about the
context which students are involved.

2. Student Characteristics and Their Instructional Implications

2.1 Description of First Characteristic of Student(s) in this Class:
-Students are sat beyond their classmates and do not participate actively in the class.

1 Adapted to the MDD standards and tasks from based the document Level II
Teacher Work Sample. University of Northern Iowa, Level 2 of the UNI Teacher
Education Professional Sequence.

2.1.1 How This Characteristic Will Impact my Lesson:

This characteristic will impact my lesson in terms of students' participation inside the
classroom. Students who do not participate in an active way in the classroom are more likely
to make mistakes at the moment of performing and using the language. Two important
aspects must be taken into account according to what during to the class have been
observed.
1) students do not participate because they do not know and they do not want to feel
embarrassed if something go wrong.
2) Students are not concerned about their process of learning.
In both aspects, teacher should encourage them into the awareness of learning. For
instance, the main purpose have to be explained. Encourage students into collaborative and
individual work as part or their formation as students and also as person.

2.2 Description of Second Characteristic of Students in this Class:

Students are in the middle of the classroom and they participate all the class.
2.2.1 How This Characteristic Will Impact my Lesson:
They could be a positive aspect in class, because they can provide better examples than the
teacher, according to their ages. The could be a kind of helper ( sometimes students feel
comfortable with their partners or friends).

3. Physical Aspects of the Classroom and Their Instructional Implications

3.1 Description of First Physical Aspect:

- Classroom arrangement: Students sit in the "semi circle form" inside the classroom.
3.1.1 How This Aspect Will Impact My Lesson:
This aspect will probably impact my lesson in the way students interact with the teacher.
Room arrangement makes successful interaction because the teacher can see their students'
face in order to know and to be aware if their are learning or paying attention to the class.
This way of sitting will also help the way students interact with their partners and the
teacher would design activities where they can produce and to be monitored by s/he.

3.2 Description of Second Physical Aspect:

Uses of databases (technology)
3.2.1How This Aspect Will Impact My Lesson:
Nowadays, databases are being used in most of the aspects of life. The use of technological
resources help students with different learning styles. Databases has become necessary
inside the classroom for students are immersed in a technologic world. The use of paper and
pencil to make notes or to study has been replaced by the use of cellphones, laptops,
tablets, etc. That is why, teacher has to make sure s/he includes visual and digital resources

at moment of teaching and also at moment of assessing. Students would feel more
comfortable in the classroom with things they are familiar with.
3. Reflects on the importance of knowing about students and the context to provide quality
teaching
Knowing about all of aspects of students' life make the difference. If the teacher do not know
anything about students, it will be difficult for both; On the one hand, teacher will not know
what techniques to use, how to promote confidence inside the classroom, what to plan in
order to motivate students. On the other hand, students would not feel comfortable with
what the teacher has planned, they would see the teacher as a punisher and not as part of
their process of learning.
