KBR wages FSHinb ie adsl 5 aay bs ‘Qatar Deserves The Best Memorandum to Design & Supervision Consultants Project: Expressway Programme Memo #: EXW-GENL-0000-PE-KBR-ME-00253 Project #: GENL Your Ref: Contract #: All Contracts Date: 13 July 2014 ATTN: All Design and Supervision From: David O'Reilly Consultants KBR Programme Director Subject: Use of Standard Det Is for Bridges Dear Sirs, Our Memorandum of 01 December 2013 (reference EXW-GENL-0000-PE-KBR-ME-00151) included standard details for bridges for use on the Expressway Programme. ‘Our Memorandum of 24 March 2014 (reference EXW-GENL-0000-PE-KBR-ME-00111) instructed that Authority and Utility Company standard details should be incorporated into designs by reference and not by reproducing the standard details on the designers drawings The nature of the bridge standard details are such that they were developed as generic details on the basis that the designer would supplement/adjust them with project specific requirements as deemed necessary. These details are therefore not suitable for use by reference only. It is therefore confirmed that the instructions of our Memorandum of 24 March 2014 are not applicable to the bridge standard details included with our Memorandum of 01 December 2013. These details shall be used as follows: 1. The standard details are generic in nature and shall be further developed by the designer as necessary to suit the particular application. 2. Where these standard details are adopted as the basis of any detail included in a design, the designer shall be entirely responsible for the completed detail and all associated liability. Designers must therefore satisfy themselves as to the suitability of the standard detail for the proposed application. 3. Designers shall adopt the standard details shown as the basis of their design unless they consider that a detail is unsuitable and agree with Ashghal that it shall not be used, At the Structures Workshop of 20 May 2014, consultants requested copies of the AutoCAD files for the bridge standard details to simplfy the production of drawings. In the interest of assisting consultants with this matter and to ensure that details are adopted in as consistent a manner as possible across the Programme, the drawing files are included on the attached CD. It must be noted that these files are provided on a without prejudice basis and KBR do not in any way guarantee the accuracy and/or completeness of the details contained therein. This issue of these files is for information only and the consultants will be responsible for reviewing and checking the suitability of all drawing files for their own use. Responsibility for the quality and content of all drawings produced by the consultant using these drawing files will remain entirely with the consultant.
