using doubles. [C, CN, ME, PS, R, V]

Monitor which games are playing, start on Math Invaders
or Monster Math to work on Mental Math
In order to challenge students that are bored with the
other games, Offer 2 extra minutes if Friday fun to anyone
that can Get a perfect score in math invaders on using
6,7,8, or 9 on subtraction.
Students can play puzzle pics addition, (ask a student to
demonstrate how to get to it if student dont remember)
Tell students to play on the difficulty with 16 squares to fill
in.

Station 2: Subtraction Snowball Students in groups of 2,
3, or 4 will play the dice game snowball, but with reversed
rules: Students will take turns rolling three dice in a
regular order. When the dice roll, they subtract that value
from their score (everyone starts at 200) to get their new
score. The students subtract the dice from their first score
to the new score to get points. If students rolls three in a
row, however, they must instead add that to their
previous score
First student to 0 wins
Students should keep track of their score on their
whiteboards
Observe student groups as they play, ensure that the
game isnt too easy and that they are playing correctly
Make sure that students playing snowball are doing their
own work; they are trying questions themselves before
getting help from classmates.
Remind students having subtraction difficulty to use their
rhymes to help if they are stuck.
Students can work at the carpet with a partner to work
through the teal flash cards (located on top of the shelf to
the right of the teachers desk.
Students should work through the questions once by
themselves (while showing their thinking) and then check
their answer with their partner. If they agree, they can flip
the flash cards to check the answer, if not, they should
double check each others work for mistakes to see where
the mistake lies.
Spend more time at this station than the others, make
sure students are showing their thinking with the work.
Watch other stations while instructing, ensure that
students playing snowball are playing fair, and that
students at the computers are using the appropriate
difficulties.
Cliffhanger/Closure
Time
Through observation while students are playing, make
sure that they are:
Playing fair
Keeping score properly
Letting students try their own work first before getting
help
Make note of student successes and struggles while
leading the skip counting activity
Clean up into Lunch (Ready tables for lunch)
