Notes: Wanted to read lots of books today. He was really interested in looking at one over and over. He was signing colors that he had learned spontaneously. During our
intervention downstairs dad and kids were watching a Christmas movie and it was distracting to Alex. After a couple minutes of playing he went to sit with his dad to watch it. This
is when Brittney went upstairs to interview mom. Alex decided he would rather read a book with me than watch a movie. He went outside to play with bubbles but he didnt stay
longer than five minutes. He only rode on his trike for two minutes. So we only got him signing stop once.

Impression: It was kind of a crazy last day of intervention. You are right when you said that at the end is when we would start seeing the most
progress. Today is the first day when Alex decided he wanted to read books with us. I dont know why we didnt think of it earlier. I guess now I
learned that I should offer a bunch of choices every day and it will be based on his mood that day. When he decided that he wanted books he stayed
on the same book for ten minutes. He started to sign things that Brittney and I had never seen him sign before. He was specifically making the same
signs each time he went to the colors purple, green, brown, and blue. I think that some of the signs were incorrect but he was signing the same things
each time. Alex also was showing that he was more comfortable with me than he had ever been. Today he said up to me and wanted me to pick
him up. This was the first time he ever did this! Great experience for the last day
Objective Description of Data and Observations: When we came inside Alex was downstairs sitting by his dad watching a Christmas movie on
the couch. At first he acted like he didnt want to leave to come play with us. But he got up and wanted to play cars. We started driving cars and he
signed stop please when Brittney was going in the opposite direction and ran into his car. He only lasted a couple minutes of playing with cars
when he went back to the couch and sat by his dad. When we invited him to come back he didnt budge. So Brittney decided that it was a good time
for her to go talk to mom and interview her. When Brittney went downstairs, little Caleb came to me wanting m to read a book with him. Since Alex
was watching the movie I decided it wouldnt hurt to read to Caleb. When Alex saw that I was going to read to Caleb that is when he got off the
couch and wanted me to read to him. We took the books upstairs to read on the couch. He pick the book Polar Bear, Polar Bear, what do you hear?
He flipped to the page with a snake and did a swirl motion with his fingers on the page to sign snake. Then when he turned the page to the zebra he
put both the tops of his hands against his cheeks with his palms out and wiggled his fingers. While he made this sign he made a growling noise.
After I had time to look up these signs I noticed that he was getting the general idea of the colors, especially purple and blue. The zebra sign wasnt
correct but
Assessment and Evaluation: For assessment purposes Alex wasnt doing as many things today as we have seen him do in the past related to his
goals. But what surprised us today was how he started signing things that we had never seen in all the time that we had been able to work with him.
This shoes us that he knows more than we give him credit for. We should have tried to broaden our range of signs to see if we could teach him more.
But looking at it now, we didnt want to introduce too many signs in the beginning to confuse him. We knew that his mom and his SLP would be
working on more signs with him as well. With his goal to not go in the road, I think that we made good progress with him in the initial phase of
learning where he couldnt cross while at the road. But I dont think that we got to the part where he was recognizing danger. Which I know will take
a lot more work and intervention.
Plan: Today was our last day with Alex
But if I were to continue working with him one of my next steps would be to take a day and take data on all of the signs that he knows. It would be a
little more intrusive and not child lead, but I think that would be so critical in understanding where he was really at in his signing progress.
For the please stop goal I think I would talk to some of the older siblings to create a scenario to see what his reaction would be without us in the
picture. For his goal to stay out of the street I would repeat the intervention of having us ride the bike down the driveway at the beginning. But I
think next is I would work on having him practice holding another persons hand while crossing the street. Another thing that I could do is to be a
little intrusive by teaching Alex how to turn his head with a physical assist. But this goal might take some time and more work.
This was a great experience! Thanks Brother Allen!
