Courage and Kindness

Courage is a big word. It can be used in so many different situations. I can have courage
to talk to someone. Have courage to say no. Have courage to give a compliment. Usually this is a
good thing. Courage should be used to do well for the world. Sure, there is time to have courage
to do something bad, but I don't want that to be the case. When you know you have been
courageous and kind, you know you have good in you and feel accomplished. There have been
so many times where I have stayed my shy little self. An attribute I have is shyness and that can
be defined as the opposite of brave. Many times I wish I could be brave and get up and help
someone, but I am always too afraid. I have been given many chances to help someone, but I
turn them down because I do not want to stand out or have something go wrong. I want to
change that. I can have courage at church, courage at work, and courage in my personal life.
We will all face fear, experience ridicule, and meet opposition. Let usall of ushave
the courage to defy the consensus, the courage to stand for principle. Courage, not compromise,
brings the smile of Gods approval.(Monson) I love it when Monson talks about how we can
give God a smile, no we will not exactly be able to see that smiling face in the moment, but we
will be able to feel it and feel his love. Many times it is hard to have courage. There are so many
chances for us to make bad choices, but this also means the opposite: we have so many chances
to make good choices. Courage becomes a living and an attractive virtue when it is regarded not
only as a willingness to die manfully but also as the determination to live decently. As we move
forward, striving to live as we should, we will surely receive help from the Lord and can find
comfort in His words.(Monson) One of my questions was does the prophet want you to have
courage and the answer is definitely yes, as we find from reading his quote. There is ethos being
used in this article because it was written by President Monson, the living prophet of God. So

can learn many things from God through him such as: we need courage to go against evil. In this
day the adversary is strong, we need courage to stay on the path. If we have courage and we use
it to do good we will be blessed.
At birth God gave us a spiritual gift, the spirit of Christ. This gift gives us the knowledge
of good and bad choices. It is easy to just do what the world says and be "cool", but that is not
what God wants or expects of us. Your bad decisions can make you feel better for a moment, but
after that moment is over you will feel worse than you did before you made that choice. It was
easy at the time, but now you have to repent because you feel awful and guilty. Would it not
have been better if you made the right choice in the first place? Should you not have done what
God wanted you to do? It may have been harder to do what God wanted, but the reward will be
great. We need courage to go about the way God would want us to, it is not usually the easy way,
but it is definitely the right way.
We can also learn from President Monsons quote that we may feel alone when we use
our courage and go against evil, but God is there watching our moves and readily waiting to give
us blessings, he is there.
If you have courage at church and in your spiritual side, courage professionally will come
easier to you. Going to church and having a calling is a lot like having job, you having many
responsibilities and dates to get you projects done by, and also people to be patient with. When
having courage in your spiritual side you also need have courage outside of church. You need to
brave when the Church of Latter-day Saints comes up in a conversation, you should be brave
enough to let whoever know that you are a member and you should be an example and show
them what it is about. Bravery can always start with action it does not need to be done with
words. You can be an example at church, have the courage to be righteous. When your co-

workers know that you are a strong member and you are brave by showing what you believe they
will expect you to be a brave person overall. That part should not be too hard if you already have
a part of you that is brave then you can let the rest of you be brave.
COURAGEBeing a designer is not for the faint of heart. From day one, you are asked
to define and defend your point of view, often in the face of inexperience. How many of us have
had to fake it til you make it? Those who have the courage to make decisions and move
forward have a key component for success. They have a willingness to bend the rules, break
traditions, and question authority and bureaucratic structures. Their courage to not worry about
looking foolish, being criticized, or making a mistake allow them to fully utilize their potential to
be creative(Adams).(Fry) This article talks about how you need to have courage when being a
Designer to defend your own point of view. I do think that is true, but first of all you have to
have courage to even present your idea not knowing if they will like it. I also agree that you have
to have courage to break traditions, but that does not mean you are breaking the rules. I am not
exactly sure what they mean when they say "break the rules" but I do not think that is ever
necessary to go against the rules. You also do have to not worry about looking foolish and have
courage to be big and get out there. This message goes along with the song Brave. Sarah
Bareilles sings about being brave and saying what you feel. You need to stand out sometimes so
you can be noticed and the way to do that is to say what you feel. Sometimes it might not work
out, but other times it will. She also sings out how sometimes a shadow wins, but sometimes is
the key word.
Sandra Walston wrote an article about how to have courage in the work field. First of all
you need to realize that no one is perfect and no one is courageous in everything they do. You
need to get to know yourself more and find out what you strengths are and then you can be

courageous when using and showing your strengths. Starting out with practicing courage while
using your strengths is a good place to begin. If you are confident in your strengths then it is
easier to have courage when presenting or practicing. Then courage will come easier. Find what
you are passionate about then use your courage. Courage is a French word and means heart and
mind. You have to get your heart and mind together and do something that frightens you.
Being brave and courageous is great, but there is something else you need to go along
with those words; kindness. Kindness goes hand in hand with courage. In the new Cinderella
movie, Cinderellas mother teaches her to have courage and be kind. I have always loved that
quote not because it is a Disney princess motto, but because it applies to my personal life. I have
found through experience that being brave gets you places, but being courageous and kind gets
you closer to God. When I have done something that scared me such bearing my testimony,
helping out someone I feel is in need or presenting in front of the class, it strengthens me and it
helps me learn more about myself. It helps me remember that I am a daughter of God. Having
courage and being kind can apply to everyone's life and they are two characteristics that
everyone should strive to have.
Forget about your worries and get out there. Prove to others what you can do, but most
importantly prove it to yourself. You need courage when being a member of the church, courage
at work, and courage in your personal life. When having courage you need kindness or else there
is no goodness. You need courage in your life and we all have it in us we just need to realize it.
