Holocaust Education: Nanjing Massacre in China

I did not have a lot of information and the graphic images of the dead that were shown in
that class. However, every time we talk about holocaust, which make et me think of the history
of our country. For me to produce this piece, I went to the library and got books on the Nanjing
massacre and searched for more information on the internet and compiled the information I had
acquired. I also read articles from past students.
I have gotten better at this kind of writing because previously I would sway from the
topic of discussion unlike now where can concentrate on just the topic am writing on. I still see
the need to improve my writing skills and the time that I take when compiling the information
that I
The most effective sources were books and the internet where I found articles and essays
on this massacre. One of the books; The Nanjing Massacre in History and Historiography, which
expounded of mass killings of thousands of civilians by Japanese soldiers accompanied by rape
and brutality. I would use this particular book again because it provided widespread information
that I required for my research. This research revealed my ability to gather information from a
wide variety of sources and narrow them down to a two-page piece.

The second paragraph of this article provided an illustration of me as a writer. I was able
to provide a vivid description of the happenings in the massacre. Which included the manner in
which the massacre took place, the number of Chinese victims that were murdered, raped and
burned. Which showed that I had detailed information relating to this particular massacre. This
piece of work makes me feel emotionally disturbed and sad because of lack of justice during and
even after this massacre.
I dislike the last paragraph of this piece, the part that justice is not acknowledged, where
Japanese government failed to recognize the number of Chinese civilians killed during the
massacre. The Japan academic spheres went ahead to mention the non-existence of the Nanjing
massacre showing how unapologetic they were. Which illustrates that I advocate for justice and
that I am repentant. I have done another piece on World War II where the postwar Germans
acknowledged their cruelty and murder of the Jews unlike the Japanese in Nanking massacre. I
chose this piece because it illustrated the Germans repentance after the massacre and their
initiative to teach generations on effects of the massacre to ensure that such mass killings do not
happen anymore. Which shows that I am apologetic.
