Reflection: A Humanizing Experience
Hello my name is Andre Raposo. I am a student at the University of North Carolina at
Charlotte majoring in computer science. I created this e-portfolio to organize the assignments I
completed in my UWRT-1103 class and to reflect on how the course has made me more human. I
believe at a basic level a human experience is just an experience that makes someone more
human. In more depth a human experience is an experience that challenges a person to be
selfless and be apart of something bigger than just them.
My human experience this semester has mainly come from my practicum study at the
UNCC food pantry. During my time at the food pantry I learned about the importance of charity.
Charity is important because it is an act that can help less fortunate people survive. Charity is
also important because of the joy and pride it brings to the volunteers. I believe my new
understanding of charity has made me more human.
Over the course of the semester, college has taught me to a more focused and organized
person. For instance, I now keep a calendar for all my homework and project due dates. This
method of organization has helped me keep on track with school assignments and not miss due
dates. I have also become a more focused person when doing school work due to having less
time to do assignments but still completing them in a short amount of time.
This semester I have learned a good amount of knowledge when it comes to being a
student of higher education and UWRT-1103. For instance, I learned how to effectively describe,

compare, associate, analyze, apply, argue, and explain a subject through cubing. We did this by
first cubing a random object. Next then we got into groups and cubed a picture of a person
protesting. Cubing these two things helped me better understand how to analyze a topic.
Learning cubing has changed the way I look at something I dont completely understand because
I can now use cubing to better understand a subject.
After completing my e-portfolio I have learned that I accomplished many different things
during this course, and I believe I have become a better student because of it. I also learned that
when I put a majority of my work all onto one website, it looks professional and organized. I am
glad I completed this e-portfolio because it helps me see the journey of me from the beginning of
the semester to the end.
As I approach the end of the semester I can reflect and see that I have learned a lot. The
knowledge I value the most from this semester is the programming knowledge I gained from my
computer science class. I found that the big programming assignments helped me learn
programming the best because it tested if I knew how to program certain things to work together.
Learning programming is very important to me because it is what I enjoy doing and what I want
to make a career out of.
I hope the reader of this reflection learns that I have gained a great amount of knowledge
during this semester and become a more human person. In the future I hope to have more great
experiences in college and to acquire more knowledge that will further enrich my future. In the
future to keep being human I will volunteer at the UNCC food pantry.
