PROCEDURE
Prior to lesson

ENLARGE AND PRINT OUT INUKSUKS ON CARDSTOCK

Set up art room: *Parent volunteer
Newspaper down on tables, paintbrushes out, liquid paint onto lid
(black, brown, white), paint blocks (yellow, orange, red, purple),
paintbrushes, water in container, paper ready, black paper for
Inuksuks

Review Inuksuks, could show some pictures from the slideshow.
BRING MRS.CS INUKSUK
Today we are going to make 2 art projects! One will be on this
large paper, and one will be on smaller paper. The larger paper
will look like this: and the smaller paper will look like this:. The
smaller art project is for your Fathers Day Calendars

Inuksuk Art Project #1

1. PUT NAME ON BACK
2. Paint background in 4 colours: ORANGE, YELLOW, RED,
PURPLE. START FROM THE BOTTOM
3. YOU NEED SOAPY WATER. Make sure there are lots of
little bubbles and that your water looks soapy so that it
is nice and dark for you
4. Take your time and paint in horizontal strokes, do not
paint in lots of directions.
5. Set it on the rack to dry
6. Then, you can sponge your Inuksuk body parts. IT IS
VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU SPONGE PAINT ON THE
BACK? WHY? So you know where to cut the pieces out
on the other side that has black lines to help you cut
7. You can sponge in 2 ways: demonstrate, show pictures.
I will show you this later at one of the tables so you can
see again how to sponge paint
8. You must sponge paint carefully, slowly, always dab
some off first.

Inuksuk Art Project #2
1. NAME ON BACK
2. Paint background: YELLOW to ORANGE to RED. START AT
BOTTOM
3. YOU NEED SOAPY WATER. Make sure there are lots of
little bubbles and that your water looks soapy so that it
is nice and dark for you
4. GO slowly and paint in one direction only! Take your
time
5. When you are done painting your background, put it on
the drying rack
6. Next, you can draw your Inuksuk body parts onto black
paper with your pencil.
7. Think about how you want your body to look before you
draw.
8. You need to draw a head, arms (one long oval), a body
(could be a few skinny ovals) and two legs. Do NOT
make the legs too long
9. Next, you can rip some white paper for the snow on your
picture. Please rip your paper so that it looks like piles of
snow NOT mountains

-Make sure it is sitting in the snow and not on top of the snow.
It needs to look GROUNDED
