Kyle Spink

I Am

9/15/2015

My name is Kyle Spink, I am seventeen years old and the child of Laura and Tony Spink,
I also have three brothers Brock, eighteen, Garret, 16, and Brody, 16. I was born in St. Joseph
Michigan and moved to Horton in my early stages of life. I am currently enrolled in my senior
year of high school at Hanover-Horton and have attended Hanover-Horton since I was six years
old, with the exception of eight weeks at Michigan Center High School my sophomore year.
After high school I plan to attend Michigan State University and study at their school of business
until I have earned at least a masters degree.
Growing up with all brothers my personality has developed to competitive, and
humorous. The reason I mention these character types together is that they often cross over and
make things either very difficult or very easy. I have a strong urge to win but while Im doing so
I often go about it in a laughing, fun matter. Sometimes this becomes difficult because people
have a hard time taking me serious in high pressured events, but in almost all other instances it
only helps. Win or lose I am always the first to smile or make a joke to lighted the mood.
Although the idea of having no sisters implies I have little manners and few feelings but
with a caring stay at home mother, I take pride in my sense of politeness and visible emotions.
Along with my mother my grandmother would stress the make sure you say please and thank
you line. Whether its towards someone of my equal or someone with a higher level of respect
such as a coach or teacher I believe that I am always considerate and extremely respectful. Ever
since I was about four years old my grandma would say Kyle, if you keep asking like that
youre going to have it all.

As a life-long athlete I also posses strong leadership skills, which show their true colors
both on and off the field. Being a verbal and physical leader for my classmates, brothers, and any
other people I might take effect on means that I always had to conscious of my behavior and my
actions to make sure that I am always the one that is easy to follow. If it was putting a little more
time into scholastic activities or being the first one to say something in a huddle it was always
first nature to me.
Having a basketball or football in my hand almost my entire life did not take away from
the stress I put on my academics. My parents both pushed and encouraged me to reach my
highest potential in school, and under any and all circumstances they made sure it was always
placed first over any other activities. With my priorities set the only things that I had to do was
show up for school and get my work done, but over the years my strongest weakness might be
my procrastination life style. In almost all cases I have my work done on time and in the right
format but the stress levels leading up to the due dates is not healthy. Considering I always do
my work last minute while I am doing other things the thought of my project at hand is always in
the back of my mind.
After completing the Myers-Briggs personality test many of these characters were
confirmed and some small parts of my personality were pointed out. The Myers-Briggs test puts
me in the category of ENTJ and more specifically I am 62% Extraversion, 31% iNtuition, 19%
Thinking, and 1% Judging. As a whole this test confirmed that I am an outgoing, thoughtful,
slightly judgmental, obedient person, which seems to describe me quite well.
With all of my very strong personalities I feel that I have developed an enjoyable
personality for everyone around me and am in great hope that one day my character will boost

my mental and physical abilities to the highest level possible. Throughout the many years I have
attended Hanover-Horton I feel I have impacted many people in a very positive way whether its
helping someone with school work or just simply giving someone my time to talk. Any type
interaction I have with a person I try to make it as positive as possible so they have a better day
and eventually a better character too. Being a confident, respectful leader I think it is necessary
that I use my willingness to lead as a positive director for the many people I come in contact
with.
