Project 2 Reflection
Project 2 was an assignment for this class in which I had to analyze an institution and
compare it to the functionalist and conflict theory. The process that had to occur in order to
complete this assignment was conducting research to be able to thoroughly explain our
institution. One skill that I learned while doing this assignment was how to use other researching
engines like EBSCO host; which gave me a good amount of scholarly journals to look at and
review. In conducting research, I learned the importance of being able to support my thoughts
and ideas without copying my sources. Learning how to research properly and discovering new
search engines are skills that were really important to develop because it will continue to help
throughout this course and in my future courses.
I believe that this assignment has allowed me to improve my academic skills by giving
me the chance to improve on my researching skills but also in being more informed on the Army;
which was my institution of choice. Learning about a new institution helped me academically
because it taught me something that I did not know. I believe that gaining knowledge helps a
person improve there academic skills because there is always something that can be learned and
then applied to future courses; for example I was able to learn about how being in the military
affects soldiers when they resocialize with society, this will help me in my future courses by
giving me a better understanding and patience if there are any veterans in my class. Project 2
allowed me to gain knowledge of another way of living and allowed me to improve my research
skills; all while discovering new ways to research sources other than Google or the library.
