Identify and explain the role of the media in the political system.
The role of the media is to provide an interior view of politics and
shape their views (public). Also, any desires that the public would want for the
government to be changed would be echoed through media. Officials present
themselves through the media and their actions/ daily lives will be shown through

the media.
LO 4.B.1: Explain the medias role in providing citizens with political information.
The media can be biased, but they provide biased political
information through the internet, radio, tv, and newspapers.
LO 4.B.2: Analyze the development, implications, and consequences of increasingly

diverse numbers of media and political communication outlets.

The older generation (the ones who typically are not very good at
technology) could be receiving their information slower than someone who is

constantly checking multiple websites for political news.

LO 4.C.1: Explain the functions and impact of political parties with regard to the

electorate and the government.

Political parties encourage the people to vote more by appealing to

policies they wish to implement into the government.

LO 4.C.2: Analyze why political parties change and adapt to political realities.
If political parties do not appeal to the people, then the political
parties wouldnt represent the people in government and would get voted out of the
government. So it is important for the media to voice the public opinion on policies

and for the political parties to listen, so they do not get the boot.
LO 4.C.3: Explain structural barriers to third party and independent candidate

success.

Third parties almost never make presidential elections, so they have

more important influence in voting for those that appeal to their opinion. They
usually persuade with money, etc. Independent candidates have a better success rate
at running for president as long as they have funds from 3rd parties and momentum

from votes throughout states.

LO 4.C.4: Analyze the benefits and potential problems of interest group influence on

elections and policy making.

The potential problems is that it might be a voice of a small fraction

of the people and it will only benefit them, not the majority. The benefits is hearing
the small fraction of the people, which might address serious issues, such as

oppression etc.
LO 4.C.5: Analyze the reasons for and impact of social movements and protest

politics.

Social movements typically happen when the government is not

listening to the people who are trying to voice their opinion. There are needs that
need to be addressed, but the government ignores them and in turn leads to

informal protesting etc.

LO 4.C.6: Assess the impact of elections, public opinion, interest groups, and

political parties on policy outcomes.

Public opinion is voiced through the media, which the political
parties listen to and form policies appealing to the public opinion. Interest groups
also influence political parties and the government to address their issues, which
then the political parties fuel the people to vote and the people decide on what to

vote on.
LO 4.E.2: Explain changes in the structure and function of election campaigns since

1972.

Social media has made election campaigns more effective and

campaigners become more involved with voters.

LO 4.E.3: Evaluate the benefits and drawbacks of candidate-centered campaigns in

the 21st century.

The overall stance on an issue from the political party is left out if it

is a candidate centered campaign.

LO 4.E.4: Analyze the relative importance of money and democratic principles in

elections.

Money and democratic principles fuel candidates for elections.

Without campaigning or having good values, the candidate will not appeal to the

people.
LO 4.E.5: Analyze whether the Electoral College facilitates or impedes democracy.
It facilitates because majority wins!
