REACTION PAPER
At first, when I saw the films poster at the mall, I was not really interested in
watching it because I am not fan of local movies. But then, the movie was gone viral on
social media and some people are posting their insights about the movie. That was the
time I thought maybe I should watch it. A few days later, the Facebook page of Heneral
Luna posted that students will have a discount of 50% and that captured me to really
watch the movie.
I am glad that I had the chance to see the movie and I had no regret watching it.
The movie was exceptional. You could really see the how the actors portrayed their
character very well, the distinction of each of the character because they are being wellplayed by actors and the way each actor really fits their respective roles. The visual and
graphical concept of the movie was no joke. The sceneries looks like its made in a
foreign country but no, they shoot here in the Philippines and the editing was also done
here. They showed realistic view of how lives are during those years. Another one is
how they reenact some war scenes. Well, it may be not that intense but it is executed
well. Also, the script is too good to be true. It is the most intriguing part of the movie.
How the characters exchange their dialogues and how they throw puns to each other is
very strong and fierce. It may be really serious but wittiness adds to the exceptionality
of the movie. And lastly, how they show the death of Gen. Antonio Luna was true. They
show what really happened to Gen. Luna and what he said to those who killed him.
After hearing that the movie was nominated in Oscars for Best Foreign Film, I felt
honored and happy that I watched it in the cinema and not by watching the pirated
DVD or downloading it through torrent. We should really create and produce more
movies like this because it our history. We should know more of our history because our
history is never dull, it is interesting and intriguing. If I would rate the movie, 5 stars
being the highest and 1 star being the lowest, I would not hesitate to give it 5 stars
because the movie deserves it.
