Week 3 Mentorship Meeting Worksheet
Date of Meeting: 14DEC2015
Meeting Duration: 20mins.
1. Meeting notes what was discussed during your meeting?
Our discussion involved a summary of the associated experiences had throughout the
last week wherein self-evaluation and mentor feedback was thereafter included in our
discussion. In addition, there was a mentor inquiry to any barriers or significant
challenges faced, or foreseeable to face, thus far.

2. What issues have you encountered since the last meeting and how did you address them?
a) Zero Issues encountered since the last meeting.
b) N/A
3. Discuss one strategy your mentor has used in the past to manage a conflict. Why did he or she
choose this method? How well did this method work? How could he or she have improved on the
chosen method?
A common strategy used by my mentor for conflict management has been no real
strategy at all, according to him. Translated for the sake of this course I would
consider his approach to mostly resemble a COLLABORATIVE type strategy,
whereupon mediation seeks to satisfy all parties via open and honest forum of
correspondence that caters to the individual circumstances therein; insomuch as it is
feasible. The method gives the mediator perspective from every side of the conflict
so-as-to remain as objective as possible throughout the process and while aiding the
eventual solution. Experiences with the method show it to be highly successful thus
far, although little comparisons exist to measure against. His method has no need for
improvement in my opinion. It is fitting to the dynamic of the organization and
though few conflicts ever arise, has proven a successful strategy thereupon.
4. Discuss the communication challenges of groups and teams with your mentor. What challenges does
he or she find most common? What strategies does he or she use to address these challenges?
Our entire office makes up the only group or team element, but within a vast
government organization. Of course, communication challenges still exist, and my
mentor states the most common to be those created by redundancy of functions. The
struggle comes from the fact that nearly all of those functions are dictated by
regulations long due for an overhaul, but come from a leadership element he has no
direct contact with. It seems all attempts to address these challenges prove futile
thus far, therefor no strategy yet has been effective, and the issue remains.
Patience, I suppose, he chuckled
I confirm that this session occurred to my satisfaction (both signatures preferred):
