The Royal Free London Foundation Trust is a large tertiary hospital with approximately 900 beds, 400 consultants and 800 junior doctors. The Paediatric Department offers wide range of paediatric subspecialties and has 28 inpatient beds. A level 1 Neonatal Unit (16 beds) supports approximately 3800 births. Paediatric outpatients see about 20000 children and similar numbers via A&E. Nicole was placed on Paediatric Gastroenterology Unit providing tertiary care for children with inflammatory bowel disease and gut motility disorders. The service is lead by two consultants with the support of a registrar and two senior house officers. During on calls, Nicole covered all specialities including Neonatal Unit, Labour Ward and Paediatric A&E. She obtained experience in weekly Infliximab Clinic and monitoring inpatients. She was involved in various modalities of gastroenterology investigations such as impedance testing, pH studies and shape studies. She has an opportunity to observe endoscopies and attend clinics with consultants. Nicole is a hard working diligent doctor who is always punctual. She has made a good effort of understanding a new healthcare system such as NHS in last few years. Her clinical skills are at level of Senior House Officer who can work independently for acute ‘assessment of sick children.
