Worship series through Feb. 7:

Spirituality is not one-size-fits-all. God creates each of us not

just to worship, but to do so in ways that align with who God
created us to be. This exploration and prayerful discovery of
your souls path to God will be marked with growth and filled
with the riches of a close walk with God. The pathways we
explore weekly are pieces that can be arranged in an infinite
number of combinations in order for you to start walking in
faith or continue as a follower of Jesus to draw closer to him.
Lets go on an adventure. Hold on!

New Year Mission Opportunity

Have you made a New Years resolution to reach out in

mission to others? The Container Project needs your help!
There are two ways to be involved: One way is hands
on at the PET Warehouse, 1908 Heriford Rd., 573-8867877. Clothing, shoes, toys, tools, school and medical
supplies and other resources are sorted and packed for
use in Rainbow Network ministries serving 112 remote
rural villages in Nicaragua. Our MUMC volunteers work at
times convenient for them during the last week of each
month. To get involved, contact LaVonne Patterson, 573239-3158 or Cleo Kottwitz, 573-446-0799.
Secondly, contributions of resources (listed above) are
needed, and cash is needed to pay for the shipping costs
(Freight for the most recent 40 ft sea going container was
$5700.) Deliver resources to PET Warehouse (There is a
special need for childrens shoes.) Make checks to MUMC
and designate Container Project.

Saturday: One biblical example of an enthusiast is King David

Explore the following scriptures of Davids celebrating in preparation for
worship. 1 Chronicles 13:1-8; 1 Chronicles 15:1-16

Friday: Acts 15:1-10 Community gives clarity

In conversation with the community of faith about our dreams and spiritual
experiences, we learn to discern what illumines the biblical and Christian
tradition. It is important for the enthusiast to not journey alone, for in
community, their lives are made full and in community they are grounded.

Thursday: Luke 19:28-40 Celebrate Jesus or else

Jesus enters triumphantly and the people celebrate. Pharisees saw this as
raucous. Jesus says that if the people dont praise, the rocks will. So no
matter what, there will be celebration.

Wednesday: 2 Chronicles 7:12-18 Mystery of Prayers

While called to pray and most Christians are an unrealistic expectation of
our prayers is that each one will come to pass. In enthusiasm and expectancy,
the enthusiast will need to balance the mystery of unanswered prayers while
celebrating the times when the answer is yes.

Tuesday: Acts 2:1-8 Expectancy

A fresh word. A fresh blow of the spirits wind is the state of expectancy for
an enthusiast. They practice and believe that God is still speaking today; they
ready themselves to receive. For what are you in expectancy?

Monday: Genesis 28:10-22 Jacobs Ladder Dream

Through dreams God breaks in, getting something across perhaps that we will
not be open to while awake. How did Jacob respond to his dream? How do you
respond to your dreams?

There are three ways in which mystery is a part of faith: dreams, expectancy,
and prayer.

Any score over 15 indicates a preference for this spiritual temperament.

__ Total

__I spend more money on music and worship downloads than on books.

___I would enjoy reading the book The Mystery and Excitement of Walking with
God.

___ I would enjoy attending a workshop on learning to worship through dance,

or worship with contemporary music. I expect that God is going to move in
some unexpected ways.

___ The words celebration and joy are very appealing to me.

___ God is an exciting God, and we should be excited about worshipping him. I
dont understand how some Christians can say they love God and then act like
theyre going to a funeral whenever they walk into church.

___ I feel closest to God when my heart is sent soaring and I feel like I want
to burst, worship God all day long, and shout His name. Celebrating God and
Gods love is my favorite form of worship!

Rate each statement 1-5, with 1 being not true and 5 very true. Enthusiasts
love God with gusto! Excitement and mystery in worship is the spiritual
lifeblood of the enthusiast. Taken from Sacred Pathways: Discover Your Souls
Path to God by Gary Thomas.

Take the brief assessment below to see how much of an enthusiast you are.

Turning Point 2016 Calendar

Jane Mudd, an art professor on the faculty at Williams Woods University in Fulton, spent some time at Turning Point this
summer and produced a series of painted portraits of some of the folks she met there. Turning Point has put together
a 2016 calendar incorporating 15 of the paintings as a fundraiser. A sample is in the church office. The cost is $25, and
benefits Turning Point, an organization run by Wilkes Blvd. UMC that provides services for Columbians experiencing
homelessness.
