SMART Goal #1:
By June 2016, at least 60% of students will achieve a 3.0 GPA by the end
of the sophomore year for increased opportunity for participation in the
Career College Promise Program.

Data Justification: At the end of sophomore year in 2014, 44% (53/120) of


the current 12th grade students achieved a 3.0 or higher. At the end of the
sophomore year in 2015, 39% (56/142) of current 11th grade students achieved
a 3.0 or higher. In 2013-2014 59.6% of students were proficient on ACT. In
2014-2015, 55.2% of students were proficient on ACT.

SMART Goal #2:
By June 2016, PCHS will empower teachers to effectively model best
practice in the classroom for improved achievement on EOC
assessments and overall 20% increase in composite score.

Data Justification: During the 2013-2014 school year, PCHS students


demonstrated 45% composite on EOC assessments (Biology 47.8%, English II
56.1%, Math 1 8.93%); 42 out of 49 AMO targets were met. During the 20142015 school year, PCHS students demonstrated 44.5% composite on EOC
assessments (Biology 45.2%, English II 46.3%, Math I 10.77%); 34 out of 51
AMO targets were met.

SMART Goal #3:
By June 2016, PCHS will increase student engagement in real world,
authentic, student centered application resulting in a 10% decrease in
disciplinary referrals.

Data Justification: The SACS Survey and Safe Schools data identify student
discipline procedures, appropriate use of digital technologies and bullying as
increasing areas for particular concern. In 2013-2014, there were 93 OSS
referrals and 226 ISS referrals. In 2014-2015, there were 105 OSS referrals
and 218 ISS referrals.

By June 2016, 80% of all stakeholders will indicate evidence of a
collaborative and productive work environment at PCHS.

Data Justification:
The 2014 NC Teacher Working Conditions Survey indicates that only 70% of
staff feel there is an atmosphere of trust, collaboration, and a shared vision at
PCHS. The 2015 Local Teacher Working Conditions Survey indicates that only
41% of staff feel there is an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.
