Below you will find important information about the 4th and 5th grade Academic Team. Please
look over the information with your child and let us know if you have any questions.

Important Dates
Monday, January 4- Practices begin
Monday, February 8 - top 3 and alternate and quick recall top 8-10 selected
(students will have a note sent home if selected)
Tuesday, February 23- FPS and Composition District Competition at 4-6
Campus
Saturday, February 27- Written Assessment and Quick Recall District
Competition at 4-6 Campus (schedule given at later date)
*Tuesday, March 8- FPS and Composition Regional Competition at Southern
Oaks
*Saturday, March 12- Written Assessment and Quick Recall Regional
Competition at Southern Oaks (schedule given at later date)

Advancing to Competition
Focus groups narrowed down based on assessments, teacher observation,
participation, good attitude
KAAC regulations
Top 3 students in each focus group
An alternate for each focus group (subject area) in the event of illness or
scheduling conflict
Top 8-10 Quick Recall students

Expectations
Academic team folder/binder must go home each night
Study for a total of 30 minutes each night
Maintain A/B average in classes
Attend practices, scrimmages, and competition
Complete any homework given by teacher for academic team
