Filming Review.

A look back at our filming

process and planning.

This is our original filming diary, before any changes were made and
before we had even started filming.

This is the most recent and final version of our filming diary. Due to Illness,
we were unable to film with Gill and instead used this date for general
filming. In replacement of Gill, we organized an interview with the
Colleges feminist society. We were unable to get access to Mel square and
Solihull Town Centre so instead we filmed voxpops on site in college. We

We extended our filming schedule to the 11th of November due to loosing

time during the half term break. The 11th was our last day of filming and
also when we got the group interview with the Feminist Society. We also
got an initially unplanned interview with Julie in pastoral care during
general filming time.

Interview with Julie

Question 1: Why do you think Feminism, Meninism, and other activist

movements are so popular among youth?
Question 2: To what extent do you think social media affects the
popularity towards, and, opinions of new social movements?
Question 3: Do you think Feminism has a bad stereotype?
Setting: Formal interview, office setting, we placed a gender equality
poster in the background for appropriate mis-en-scene.

Meninist Interview

For this interview we used a dark room and placed the meninist Scott in
front of some bright lights (computer screen, open window), due to this the
light balance would be off and Scott himself was silhouetted. This was the
effect we wanted to achieve, we were experimenting with a popular
documentary trope where an interview is made anonymous by this sort of
filming technique.

Why are you a meninist?

What do you think Meninism will achieve?
What is your opinion on feminism?
Can you see why people would see meninism negatively?

We used this mini guide and explanation

taken from an article on the internet.

this is the article.

Feminist Society Interview

Question 1: Do you know what meninism is?

Question 2: What are your opinions of meninism?
Question 3: Do you see meninism as an attack or hate group on and for
feminism?
Question 4: What is your opinion on the branding and attempts to sell
meninism?
Question 5: (in response to their assumption that meninism is a new
movement after the branding question) Are you aware that meninism has
been a thing on the internet since as earlier as 2005, and, has been
existent in many other movements with different names such as new man
which can be dated as far back as the 90s?
The members of the society sit together in a row, its a wide shot as it fits
all of them in, very plain areas, only focus is on them, due to the large
volume of people we didnt want the screen to become too busy.

Voxpop interviews

We generally tried to stick to the same 5 questions when interviewing people

on the street, to keep it quick and keep all of our responses in the same theme
so that they could be easily grouped together in editing. These questions were:
Question 1: Have you heard of Meninism?
Question 2: Have you heard of Feminism?
Question 3: Do you think Feminism has a negative stereotype?
Question 4: Have you ever seen anyone, in real life or on social media,
wearing meninist merchandise?
Question 5: Do you use any social media websites or apps?
We were initially aware that people would not generally know what meninism
is, and so, we attempted to create questions that didnt really discuss
meninism (as our formal interviews would be doing that) but instead discuss
the causes, effects, and visibility of meninism in media and knowledge of the
general public.
All of our voxpop interviews are medium shots of people looking at us behind
the camera, not directly into the lens.
