EVERYONE
Liked me all the time should be sharper.
God I really blew it happens DIRECTLY after the last group of boys finish ballet. You
get no time, no cue, no cushion. You go straight into it.
ZACH Hold it comes before the music changes, not after. Your line is the motivation
for the music to change. Same goes for Listen, thats great, but stay in the formation.
Leave some time after Paul finishes his solo for the song to land and for applause.
PAUL Dont strain yourself on your solo. Make it very easy and light.
I Can Do That
Foots too small is going flat
Dont try to sound young or use a character voice. Just use your regular voice.
Now married and FAT; fat is a laugh line. Make it land; sell it, highlight it.
AND
Entrances on the last And should be more assured
ANNA Beautiful entrance
CATHERINE Beautiful entrance
AT THE BALLET
The whole thing is dragging. Make sure it has a driving energy behind it.
Make sure your doo doo doos are doo doo doos and not too too toos.
BRI Do not breathe during At the ballet graceful men
BRI You have no time before the line Thats when I started class. Youre taking a
pause and breathing and hanging out; it goes straight in. Also, the line is Thats when I
started class, not Thats when I started dance class. No time for extra words.
BRI You cue the doo doo doo doos, not Ryan. Just go on those.
SARAH P Your first Hey should be significantly softer and more delicate. I dont want
you to give away that belt before your longer solo.
SARAH P You are putting a ton of breath into your Hs, which is a waste of breath and
making you run short
SING
SAMI You cue the beginning of this song, meaning you have control over the tempo.
Right now, the first line is super fast. Back up off it, and you will give yourself lots of
time throughout the song.
SAMI The lines What a crazy and Im terrific at a dance / guys are comin in their
pants are getting lost/low/mumbled.
MICHAEL Please sing Ping as Pinnnnnnng to make it sound more Ping-y.
MICHAEL You, my friend, are officially on vocal rest. Make tea. Sleep. Be good to
yourself.
MONTAGE
I

MICHAEL Gee Im almost ready was glorious

MARIAH Thats the story of my life / I remember when everybody was my size
and I was never gonna be Maria Tallchief are pitchy.
MARIAH Try singing as if youre in your lower register. Youre emulating the cast
album; use your own voice and it will be much stronger and there wont be as much
vibrato.
EVERYONE La La La/ La La La / La La -> that last la cuts off quick even though
your choreo is that long spin with the jazz hands. Quick cut-off.
EVERYONE The lyrics are HELLO twelve HELLO thirteen HELLO love until the
very end of part IV.
II
STEF Youre putting extra breath at the end of your nothings.
Could get a girl TRANSFERRED, the vowel should be longer. You are singing
transfrrrrrd now; I want transfeeeeeeeerd.
You are cutting off except. In order for it to pop, it should be held: exceeeeeeept.
III
DALE Stop picking your nose is a whole step higher from Michaels wash the car.
CATHERINE Ensure that you really enunciate the R in Rollers in her hair. Be very
aware of your diction in general.
KYLE Youre super flat. Dont push, and open your mouth.
The line is all your books, not all of your books. This is not arbitrary; all of is a
college-ism. Its 1970s New York and does not fit.
KYLE Gaberdine pants is both a laugh line and a cue. Please make sure you highlight
it.
MARIAH You are is a 3rd down from what Sarah P is singing. We can go over this if
you like.
IV
A good chunk of this is lagging. Make sure it has that wonderful driven energy.
