IN REFERENCE TO, ‘THE NORTHEAST ENERGY DIRECT (NED) PIPELINE Pursuant to Rule 214 of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's (Commission) Rules of Practive and Procedure, 18 CFR. s. 385.214, the Dracut Land Trust In. (hereafter DLT) file this Motion to Intervene in the above-captioned proceeding. DLTI bas significant concems regarding the environmental, safety, and socioeconomic impacts of the NED Pipeline project. The resources on DL property that could be directly impacted by the proposed pipeline include: public and private drinking water supplies, permanently protected open space, farmland, rare and endangered species habitats, wetlands, vernal pools ad private businesses, ‘The short and long-term impacts thatthe proposed project could have on our property is profound. DLTI seeks to intervene on the NED Project to monitor the progress of the proceedings and expect to take a position onthe Project once we complete our review ofthe pplication filed with FERC. 1, STATEMENT OF INTEREST A. Deseription of Dracut Land Trust, Ine. Dracut Land Trust, Ine. is a non-profit $01e(3) approved, land trust established in 1998 for the purpose of maintaining and preserving farmland, woodlands and natural habitat property located in Dracat, Massachusetts, The trust presently holds ttle to two farm and woodland properties located in Dracut, “Massachusetts. The firsts the “Ogonowski” property consisting of 34 aeres of woodland, ‘wetlands and farmland slong Broadway Road and Jones Ave. The Ogonowski property was acquired by DLT in large past asa result ofa federal grant obtained in the memory of John Ogonovrski, one of the American Airline Pilots killed inthe September 11-2001 terrorist attack. ‘The property was granted to DLT with « permanent restriction in place to ensure the farmland ‘on the property is maintained in perpetuity for the benefit of al residents of Dracut and ‘surrounding communities. DLTI also owns the “Healey” property which consists of approximately 28 acres of woodland and farmland along Jones Avenue in Dracut, Massachusetts, ‘This property was donated to DLTI forthe purpose of DLTI preserving the existing woodlands and farmlands on the property in perpetuity ‘The proposed pipeline and a related compressor station would travel through the Healey property
