VERIZON INNOVATIVE APP CHALLENGE

STATEMENT of PROBLEM
Children spend approximately 5 to 7 hours a day with teachers for almost 10 months
annually (California State University, 2014). The communication between the student and the
teacher serves as a connection between the two, which provides a better atmosphere for a
classroom environment (California State University, 2014, p. para. 2). Research reports the
more the teacher connects or communicates with his or her students, the more likely they will be
able to help students learn at a high level and accomplish quickly. However; students and
teachers report complications from ineffective and limited s2t communication, not utilizing all
readily available technology.
For teachers conducting a classroom and shaping the minds of the young students,
teachers who communicate effectively with their students should give appropriate and helpful
feedback to their students consistently and timely. In addition, consistent interaction and
communication between student and teacher becomes extremely important for a successful
relationship through the entire school experience. Effective use of technology could improve
s2t communication, and thereby increase academic achievement and satisfaction of students,
and decrease stress and unnecessary work for teachers.

s2t; APP SOLUTION
Teachers effectively teach and students effectively learn when teachers interact with, and
learn more about their students (California State University, 2014). With our app, teachers can
establish a positive relationship with their students by communicating with them and properly
providing feedback to them. Respect between teacher and student can be enhanced, with both
feeling enthusiastic when learning and teaching.
Our goal as current students, who have experienced these problems both inside and
outside of the classroom, is to alleviate obstacles to effective s2t communication required for
teaching and learning, with our innovative software/ application. Our application will offer
students two-way, effective, efficient communication with their teachers unlike anything
available to date. In addition, the app can organize students assignment due dates, classwork
assignments, and homework assignments
The application will be mobile based. Students will download the app, make an account
with the school, and go through the set up process. Teachers will have ability to publish
homework assignments and leave messages for students, which then will prompt a notification to
the student on their preferred device. This app will organize and simplify students academic
lives.
