    company'sHeitsmannaturalgaswellpadinDimockTwp.,polluteda
    wetlandsandcausedafishkillinStevensCreek,accordingtothestate
    DepartmentofEnvironmentalProtection.
    Tuesday'sspill,whichoccurredwhenahoseruptured,waslikelyinthe
    hundredsofgallons,DEPOilandGasDivisionspokesmanDanSpadonisaid.

    "DEPisveryconcernedaboutspillsatCabotsitesandwillrequireCabotto
    takeallnecessaryactionstopreventthemfromrecurring,"DEPNorthcentralRegionalDirectorRobertYowellsaid.
    ThespillsinvolvedaliquidgelcalledLGC35,whichismixedwithwaterandservesasalubricantinthewellfracking
    process.About4.9gallonsofLGC35aremixedwitheach1,000gallonsofwater.Failedpipeconnectionscausedboth
    spillslastweek,accordingtoDEP.
    CabotspokesmanKenKomoroskisaidalthoughTuesday'sspillcontainedagel,itwascomprisedof99.5percentfresh
    water.
    AsfortheSept.16spills,Cabotrecoveredasmuchofthematerialasphysicallypossible,butmuchofitwentintoStevens
    Creekandthewetlands,DEPspokesmanMarkCarmonsaid.
    DEPhasaskedCabottoperformafullsitecharacterizationtoseewhatkindofimpactthereisonthearea,hesaid.
    Watersamplesweretakenupstreamanddownstreamfromthespill.AsofTuesday,DEP'sOilandGasDivisionwas
    reviewingthetestresults.
    AccordingtoBryanBendock,WaterwaysConservationOfficerforthePennsylvaniaFishandBoatCommission,nolarge
    fish,liketrout,werekilled,butdozensofminnowsandtadpoleswereaffected.
    Mr.BendockisalsowaitingontheDEPresultstoseeifthereareanypotentiallonglastingeffectsfromthespill.Hesaida
    penaltywillbeassessedbytheFishandBoatCommission.
    DEPhasissuedanoticeofviolationthatcitesCabotforanunpermitteddischargeofpollutingsubstances,anunpermitted
    dischargeofresidualwaste,twounpermittedencroachmentsonStevensCreek,notcontainingpollutingsubstancesatthe
    wellsite,andanunpermitteddischargeofindustrialwaste.
    Cabotmustprovideawrittenresponsewithin10daysexplaininganyadditionalstepsthatwillbetakentocorrectthe
    violations,andwhatstepsarebeingtakentopreventtheirrecurrence.
