Overall Review
To start with I used a digital camera to take the photographs for the front cover,
contents page and double page spread. This was the first stage of making my music
magazine, I learned about codes and conventions that are associated with taking
photos, the two main ones being connotations and denotations. For example in the
main image on the front cover I have used a black and white based photo showing class
and high quality. I also used an umbrella, which could imply class also but is inside so is
being used for an opposite task that what it would usually be used for.
During the photo shoots I tried to stick with the rule of thirds and mid-shots.
this would help my magazine look more professional.
To edit and upload my photos at there best I used
programmes such as In-Design and Photoshop. By
changing the background colour to black and
white I feel gave the front cover a more modern
and high quality look.
By using these different programmes and
technologies, I find can make the overall
appearance of your magazine look aesthetically
pleasing and high quality.

Photoshop
I have used Photoshop in the main production task, although I have used mainly the
programme In-Design, which has similar software. I used Photoshop for the main
production of the front cover. I used tools such as the cropping, altering the colours
involved overall making the page look more aesthetically pleasing and high quality. After I
cropped the image on the front cover to a satisfactory level I created the masthead and
used the sandwich tool to make the masthead stand behind the models body by erasing
areas of specific words or text in the masthead. I found using Photoshop was more of a
technique used to improve the quality and aesthetics of a document. However, In-Design, I
used for making the page look professional, to do this I specifically used the third colomns
it provides you (making it close enough to a real music magazine) and including different
techniques a real manufacturer would use distributing music magazines in industry. I have
learnt that PhotoShop can be used for a huge variety of tasks whether it is editing a
picture or creating a magazine. This is likely due to the intermediate tools Photoshop has
to offer. Using Photoshop for my music magazine has ensured that my magazine is of high
quality and is aesthetically pleasing and to the level I wanted it to be created at.

In-Design
In-Design was a vital programme and software I used for the development of my music
magazine. I used this software in all of my cover and contents pages and double
page spread work. After I cropped the image and added the magazine masthead to my
cover page I inserted the images to the cover page in In-Design examples of these are the
magazine strapline, the date of the magazine, cover lines and the barcode and price.
Through the course of producing work on In-Design I have widened my knowledge in using
this software similarly to Photoshop I am now confident in using these two programmes.
I found using the In-Design
programme helpful and useful as it
had all the tools needed to ensure
my front cover, contents page and
double page spread were as high
quality as I needed and met the
target audiences standards.

Weebly
I used the website Weebly to present my work. After creating my own blogs
for my preliminary and main tasks I created categories so my work could be
organised appropriately. These
categories were Research, Planning, Production and Evaluation. I had some
issues with Weebly however, some of these were uploading images and text
as it wouldnt let me upload JPEG images. To overcome this I tried uploading
at various times or changing the type of file to uploaded to Weebly. I have
found from using Weebly as the main place to blog
my work that for the future I would rather use a different location to track
the
location of my work as there have been quite a few complications with it.
However, there have been advantages to using the programme Weebly as
Its a programme you can both access at college and home so can be altered
at all times.

Prezi
I used Prezi as also a programme to show my work. This software is similar to movie maker
where work is displayed in a mini movie. I find this is an aesthetically pleasing way to
portray work rather than just displaying it in a word document. I used Prezi mainly in my
evaluation as I thought it was a more unique programme to use compared to Powerpoint
document or word document.
I found that this software can be difficult to present large amounts of text and changing the
text size and the zoom soon changed this issue.
