Mission, Vision, and Values Statements

Mission
We support faculty through engaging professional development centered on effective, evidencebased pedagogy that facilitates student learning.

Vision
To be a national model focused on faculty professional development anchored in the scholarship
of learning and teaching that prepares todays faculty for tomorrows opportunities.
Values

Excellence: We support faculty in achieving high professional standards.

Collaboration: We encourage teamwork to advance the mission, vision, and goals of


SLCC.

Cooperation: We are responsive to the faculty professional development needs of


departments, schools, and the college.

Respect: We foster safe and supportive environments in which faculty can seek
assistance, learn, and work in diverse ways while also trying out new ideas.

Transformation: We support reflective practice, personal growth, and self assessment in


faculty and our center which leads to innovative teaching and improved student learning.

Scholarship: We encourage high-impact, engaged teaching grounded in substantiated


pedagogical research.

Inclusivity: We value differences among students and faculty, and encourage courses that
incorporate diverse perspectives.
