LWT IS THE BEST CHOICE FOR STUDENTS

Ive been on AMS Assembly for 3 years now, and have learned a lot about what
makes a good executive team. This is the first time that I, as a Commerce
student, got involved in an AMS executive election, and I wanted to tell you
why I believe Tyler Lively, Dave Walker, and Carolyn Thompson are the right
choice.
Over the past 11 days, we have heard a lot about how the AMS needs to be
more effective, more approachable and more compassionate. Students are
right. However, we wont get there by undoing years of progress by previous
teams.
This year we can vote for a student government that is both pragmatic and
compassionate. An AMS that actually cares and is relevant, effective and
worthwhile in students lives. We need an AMS executive with a forwardthinking vision, a cohesive team dynamic, and a practical plan for future
success.
Tyler, Dave and Carolyn are that team. They are the first team ever to
understand that student leadership extends beyond the AMS. But more
importantly, they are the first team ever that not only said they wanted to

bring you into the conversation, but actually did. They are the first team ever
to create a clubs platform by listening to clubs about their issues and crafting
creative solutions directly from their feedback.
Tyler, Dave and Carolyn understand that effective student advocacy is a long
game. Change does not happen overnight, but their bold plan for better study
space, real action on sexual assault prevention, and tangible changes to our
services to make them more relevant and accessible for students makes them
the ideal student leaders for the coming year.
I have seen a lot of AMS teams come and go. But only Tyler, Dave and Carolyn
are the best prepared to take on this responsibility.
I have known Tyler the longest I have seen his competence, dedication, and
intelligence. He brings a diverse range of experiences, both inside and outside
the AMS. He has the broad perspective needed to understand what the AMS
excels at, where it should improve, and where it should get out of the way.
Dave brings a fresh approach to the AMS. In his role as this years Student
Life Centre (SLC) Operations Manager, he deftly managed a demanding
portfolio without any prior experience at the SLC. Most importantly, his
approachability has made the AMS accessible for a whole new generation of
students as weve campaigned over this past week.
As a woman in leadership, I have come to admire Carolyns political
judgement, energy and confidence. She will be the driving force behind a
renewed focus on engaging students. As this years AMS Brand Coordinator,
she re-energized AMS outreach to clubs, groups, and faculty societies and
worked hard to make them vital parts of the wider Queens community.
Together, Tyler, Dave and Carolyn make a strong team. I have seen first-hand
that they are open, honest and accountable, not only with students, but with
each other. They have proven their commitment through results in previous
roles, and also throughout this incredibly demanding campaign period.
Too much is at stake this election for cynical gimmicks and unsustainable
promises. As a faculty society president, I am incredibly grateful to have a
team that is focused on realistic solutions to student issues. Team LWT stands
for an AMS that will deliver results, further engage students, and lay a
foundation for continued success. They deserve your support.
So on Tuesday and Wednesday, vote LWT for your new AMS executive.
