Casting the short engagement of PIPPIN with music & lyrics by Stephen Schwartz,
and book by Roger O. Hirson; rehearsals 4/1/2016-5/18/2016, productions
5/19/2016-8/2/2016.
Seeking
Pippin:
Male, 20-29, all ethnicities
son of Charlemagne, young man looking to find the path of his life; strong mover
and tenor.
Leading Player:
Male or female, 20-40, all ethnicities
a powerhouse, charming and seductive, the leader of troupe and creator of Pippins
journey; strong stage presence, voice and dance abilities required.
Charlemagne:
Male, 30-60, all ethnicities
Pippins father and king of the country, war is his highest priority; strong comedic
timing, baritone and special skills such as juggling appreciated.
Fastrada:
Female, 30-60, all ethnicities
Charlemagnes wife and Pippins stepmother, her first desire is to get her son,
Lewis, first in line to the throne; dancer.
Lewis:
Male, 20-35, all ethnicities
son of Charlemagne and Fastrada, Pippins half brother and soldier in
Charlemagnes army, he takes pride in his physical prowess; strong mover and
tenor.
Berthe:

Female, 35-70, all ethnicities


Pippins grandmother and Charlemagnes mother, a spunky character with strong
comedic timing, who encourages Pippin to live a full life; alto.
Catherine:
Female, 25-35, all ethnicities
the love interest of Pippin, a widow with a young son, she is kind, sensible and
romantic; strong mix.
Dancers and Movers:
Male and female, all ages, all ethnicities
strong storytellers who can communicate with their body in space, can bring
personality into their movement and be part of an ensemble.
Audition Notes:
Please prepare 16 bars of an appropriate song, and be prepared to stay for a
dance/movement call following singing auditions. Please bring headshot and
