Curriculum
Fairless High School offers a comprehensive curriculum. The school operated on yearlong courses, with some courses, mostly electives, being offered in semesters. Each school day is
comprised of 8 periods. Students are required to earn 20 credits in order to graduate.
Students must earn a 0.5 credit of Physical Education, which consists of two 0.25
courses. Students who compete 2 seasons of athletics, marching band or cheerleading are
excused from taking physical education courses.
Students must achieve 3 elective courses. Some of the many elective courses offered
include a variety of fine arts classes, computer classes, Spanish, broadcasting, yearbook, writing
for publication, employability, psychology, and personal finance & economics.
Fairless High School offers Advanced Placement courses and testing in English,
Calculus, and Government. Students may enroll in digital courses, which are primarily computerbased instruction under the supervision of a qualified teacher. Yet, the course is independent of
regular classroom instruction.
Students can pursue coursework through RG Drage Career Center, College Credit Plus
(CCP), Tech Prep, along with traditional classes here at Fairless High School. RG Drage Career
Center offers programs in the Medical Field, Business Field, Culinary Field, Heating/Air
Conditioning, Auto Body, Auto Mechanics, Welding, Cosmetology, and many others.
The students who choose to take advantage of our College Credit Plus program can
attend a local college part time or full time to receive high school and college credit at the same
time. Some of the colleges attended are Stark State, University of Akron, Kent, Walsh, and
Malone. Students can also choose to attend the Aultman Career Academy to prepare for a career
in the healthcare field. Classroom and laboratory activities take place at Aultman Healthcare
Foundation in Canton.
Tech Prep is yet another option for Fairless Students, in which they attend another local
high school for one of their college-intending programs during their 11th and 12th grade years.
Some of the many programs that students can pursue are: Medical- Nursing/Physical Therapy,
Auto Mechanics, Legal Studies, and Computer Game Design. Some of the high schools that
students can choose for Tech Prep includes: GlenOak High School, Jackson High School,
Massillon High School, and Perry High School.
