LOCATION, FACILITIES AND COST
The symposium, including key note addresses and paper presentations, will be held at
Portland State University, which is located in downtown Portland, with easy access to
most main attractions within the city. Accommodations will be at University Place
(www.uplace.pdx.edu), PSUs conference facilities. The facilities come equipped with many
amenities including an outdoor pool. In June, the climate in this part of the United States
is typically warm (between 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit) and pleasant. The spring rains
occasionally linger into June, so be prepared for all possibilities!
Registration
Arrangements have been made for a conference package including accommodation for
seven nights (June 19th-June 25th). With a shared room arrangement (2 beds) the cost
for accommodations is US $275; for a single room the cost is US$550.
The conference registration fee which includes all meals, cultural excursions and
conference activities is as follows:
Registration Fee: $425 US Dollars
Payment
We are enclosing two forms for payment, one for the conference fee, and one for the
accommodation fee. Participants can pay either by VISA or MASTERCARD or by a
check or money order in US Dollars. All checks or money orders for the conference
should be made out to Portland State University; those for accommodation should be
made out to University Place.

Visa
Please check with your local U.S. Embassy authorities for information about visa and
other documents necessary for travels to the United States.
Travel arrangements
In making your travel arrangement you should fly into Portland International Airport.
Portland is a beautiful city, especially in summer and is a launching spot for some of the
most beautiful geography in the United States. Local tourist agencies can assist with

information on the Oregon Coast, surrounding mountains, forests, rivers as well as the
many cultural events available in the city.
Funding possibilities
The symposium organizers are keenly aware of the financial limitations of some of our
outstanding scholars around the world, which does not make it always possible for them to
participate. The symposium organizers are working hard on raising money for this event
and hopefully we are able to completely or partly support about five participants to attend
the symposium. If you need financial support, please send an application with details
concerning your situation (employment or study situation, travel costs and other relevant
information) to:
