FOCUS- DAY 1 TOURNAMENT

Students Prior Knowledge:


Understand the applications used on the iPad for their
designated roles throughout the tournament.

Understand the rules of AVA and be able to dig, set,


spike, block and effectively return the ball over the net.

As a result of this lesson, students will be able to:
Play a Round Robin Tournament against one of the other teams
Incorporate ICT tools into PE lesson

Teachers Prior Preparation/Organisation:

Ensure volleyballs are pumped up


Volleyball net is in good condition and easily
assembled
Every student is allocated a team (A, B, C)
Every student is allocated a role (coach, media (live
footage), sports medic, or music manager.

Provision for students at educational risk:

Keep in consideration the students who dont


have access to an iPad and need extra
guidance.

Students with eye sight problems who may


have trouble with looking at the iPad for long
periods of time.


LESSON EVALUATION (to be completed AFTER the lesson)
Assessment of Lesson Objective and Suggestions for Improvement:
No assessments done today, as it was to make sure students understood how to use the iPads and what was
expected for each role.

Time management was good in todays lesson and everything got organised for the tournament including
students roles and teams.

Motivation and Introduction:


Welcome!
Remind the students that today is the start of the tournament.
Get students to sit in their teams (A, B or C)
Make sure there is 1x coach (accessing Coachs Eye), 2x Media
(accessing iMovie), 1x Sports Medic (using Stretch It) and 2x Music
managers (organising playlists on Spotify).
Get everyone to set up the court
Lesson Steps
TEAM A vs. TEAM B with TEAM C doing roles.
The student from Team C who has been allocated Stretch It is to
conduct a whole class warm up with stretches specific to volleyball.

Once stretches are competed, TEAM A vs TEAM B. With a match


time of 10 mins and a scoring system as follows, which the teacher
will record:

Lesson Closure:

Finish with the results from Day 1 tournament. Open to any questions
regarding how the teams found the apps and were there any difficulties?
Take the net down and put volleyball away in store room.

Transition:
Tournament will run exactly the same as today, tomorrow. The scores will
continue over from today.
Assessment:
There were no formal assessments today. However, they will take place over
the next few days, via Coachs Eye that students record for each team.
