Buonastesta, Mr Cupido and Mr G. Sargent 197 Pipe-spinning plant installed. 1972 ‘Second Disamatic installed, Beszans-du Plessis merged with Pretoria iron Steel & Brass Foundry to from present company. 1974 ‘24-ton induction furnace installed. 1977 Company embarked on an intensive diversification programme which included the manufacture of castings for the automotive, agricultural and general engineering industries in grey iron, S.G. iron and malleable iron. Laboratory spectrograph installed. 1978 Annealing furnace installed, ‘Two additional electric induction furnaces installed. 1979 New semi-automatic moulding line completed. Melting capacity increased by the installation of another electric induction furnace. 1981 Became a member of the Lenning Holdings Group of Companies. 1982 Supercast plain-ended drainage system launched on RSA market. 1993 Entered the cast iron cookware market and commissioned the first no-bake moulding line. 1995 Started production of cast iron fittings for pressure piping. 1998 Became subsidiary of Saint-Gobain Pipelines. 2001 ‘The well established name of Besaans-du Plessis Foundries was changed to Saint-Gobain Pipelines South Africa (PTY) Ltd. 2005 Saint-Gobain Pipelines South Aftica (PTY) Ltd. receive ISO 9001 quality management. Ductile iron's “high strength to weight" ratio allows for the production of lightweight castings that offers more than 50% weight saving over traditional grey iron equivalents. }> Ductile iron provides a safety margin. The High strength ratio in ductile iron, not only minimises the risk of failure when installed, but reduces the likelihood of breakages in transit and off loading. There are five essential requirements to this vital structure as follows: (1), Hydraulic Efficiency ~ This is the most important aspect of a Kerb Inlet and therefore requires the greatest attention including the need to remain unblocked at all times. Therefore, Saint-Gobain PAM Engineers and sewer system managers designed the SELECTA. a. The advantages are the arrangements of the bars in the lower section of the gutter. The bars are arranged longitudinally in order to maximize water drainage. Simulations carried out on test benchs showed an increase of between 10% to 15% absorption in certain circumstances, compared with traditional design of the same size. The presence of a raised bar prevents large objets ie: Tins, Bottles, etc. preventing ingress of the stormwater system polluting the environment. The surface of the crate is equipped with raised noses that are oriented in such a way preventing leaves or litter from blocking the kerb inlet opening system. (2) Structural Strength - The proximity of this structure to the road, requires that it must be capable of withstanding any static or dynamic loads which it may be subjected to. The SELECTAis manufactured from unbreakable Ductile Iron and classified as an C250. (3) Safety - The automatic Ductile Iron spring bar clips the grate and cover. This secures the Kerb Inlet and limits unauthorized access into the sewer. (4) Maintenance - Easy access for periodic cleaning of slit and sand. (5) Cost- The Kerb Inlet represents approximately 15% of the value of a Storm Water Reticulation and should therefore be cost effective. SELECTA eliminates breakages and maintenance. atitm DUCTILE IRON SAINT-GOBAIN PIPELINES SOUTH AFRICA. ‘SELECTA MAXI ‘Overall Waterway area Effective jimensit tem “according to.
