Dwight David Eisenhower1.

Dwight David Eisenhower was a WWII general who was one of the many people that helped
us end the war. After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour, Eisenhower went to DC to work
on US War plans. After impressing Army Chief of Staff George C. Marshall, Eisenhower was
able to go into war. In November 1942, Eisenhower commanded troops that invaded North
Africa in Operation Torch. Soon later, he directed the invasions of Sicily and Italy. In only a
few years, Eisenhower had risen from a mediocre lieutenant colonel to a four-star general in
charge of one of the greatest military forces in history. Later, Eisenhower achieved the effort
of launching the D-Day invasion on Normandy. This showed great amounts of leadership.
Similar to George Washington, after help end a war, he became president.
2. Eisenhower was a viable candidate for president because during WWII, he should great
amounts of leadership, bravery, and courage. Before presidency, George Washington was a
war general. After the war, people saw that he was a great leader and should be the one to
lead the country. This was similar to Dwight Eisenhower. After WWII Eisenhower became
president for his great amounts of courage, bravery and leadership.
3. While Eisenhower was president, the US was in the midst of the Cold War. During his
presidency, Eisenhower managed Cold War tensions with the Soviet Union, under the threat of
nuclear weapons, ended the Korean war in 1953, and authorized a lot of anti-communist
operations by the CIA around the world. Eisenhower strengthened the Social Security
program, increased the minimum wage and created the Department of Health, Education and
Welfare. He showed leadership and bravery when he authorized the CIA to do operations
against communism, which brought down the governments of Iran in 1953 and Guatemala in
1954. Soon after taking office, Eisenhower signed a truce, ending the Korean War One of
Eisenhowers main goal as president was to try and cool down the tensions with the Soviet
Union during the Cold War. He proposed the open skies policy which meant that the US and
Soviet Union would conduct inspections of each others military programs, however the USSR
denied this. When the threat of Nuclear weapons grew higher and higher Eisenhower did
strengthen the NATO program, which would help keep people safe in the Cold War.
4. Eisenhower is remembered as one of the best leaders in american history. Eisenhower help
end WWII, cool down tensions between the US and Soviet Union during the cold war, end the
Korean war, helped get rid of communist governments, and try to stop others, and strengthen
NATO. Before his presidency, Dwight David Eisenhower was in the military. He is most famous
for the D-Day invasion on Normandy.
Abraham Lincoln
1. Before his presidency, In 1834, Lincoln ran again for the state legislature.He had won even
though he issued no platform statement, made no promises, and gave few speeches. Instead,
he shook hands, told jokes, and visited nearly every family in the county. He ran and won
again in 1836, 1838, and 1840. This showed good leadership because he was able to win state
legislature multiple times. After, Lincoln served one term in the US House of Representatives.
In 1857 Lincoln showed great amounts of leadership because, in the supreme court in Scott v.
Sanford, They believed that African Americans were not citizens and should not be given the
same rights as whites. Lincoln believed that the founding fathers of the country intended this

country to have all to have rights. Lincoln then showed leadership and bravery by criticizing
the Supreme COurt and President Buchanan for promoting slavery.
2. Lincoln was a viable candidate for president because of his great amounts of leadership
and bravery, prior to his presidency. When the Supreme Court trial Scott v. Sanford happened
where African Americans were not considered citizens, Lincoln stood against this. He believed
that all men in the US should have rights, just as the founding fathers intended. He stood up
for what he believed in, and that makes him a viable candidate.
3. Lincoln is known as one of the best presidents, and one of the best leaders. Lincoln was
most famous for abolishing slavery. At the time of his presidency, the US was divided into two
regions; the Union and the Confederates. The North and the South. The Northern region were
still the United States and was against slavery, and the Southern Region was the Confederate
States of America and was for slavery. Lincoln led the US through the CIvil war, where many
soldiers died and defeated the Confederacy and abolished slavery. Lincoln enacted the
Emancipation Proclamation which abolished slavery. Lincoln showed leadership by trying to
bring the country that had gone into war with itself, back together.
4. President Lincoln was one of the best leaders in American history. He abolished slavery and
brought a country divided against itself, back together. Abraham Lincoln is the reason the
United States is still United and eliminated slavery. To do this he began a largely unpopular
but necessary war. Lincoln was a good leader, for bring a country back together.

5. Both President Lincoln and President Eisenhower were very good presidents. They were
both very good leaders, one ending something bad, and another helping to end a World wide
war. They both also led their country through a war that could have ended the US. Whats
different is that Eisenhower was not previously in politics before he was president. Lincoln
was. Lincoln was a state legislature from Illinois, and Eisenhower was a mediocre Lieutenant.
Also, Lincoln had very poor education, Eisenhower had education. Even though LIncoln had
poor education, he was able to rise up and become one of the best presidents in American
history. Same with Eisenhower, even though, he had no experience in politics, and was an
okay lieutenant, he rose up to be a four star general, and later president. Both presidents
were able to lead their country through a war. The Civil War with Lincoln, and part of The
Cold War with Eisenhower.
